Not sure how this will effect everything but Northwest is beating Centennial 14-0 in the 1st Quarter.

For our district I hope Midlothian beats Red Oak. I think that gives us the best chance to go 3-1 or 4-0. Lake Belton vs Centennial and Red Oak vs Denton Ryan would be great games! Justin Northwest is going to give the #1 seed from D4 some fits. Hope everything falls into place and we have a good showing. Having said all that we could go 2-2. Hard to see us going 1-3.

I want to give a shoutout to The Colony! They went 4-4 in district and never had a bye week. This week, Week 11 is their bye!. Unfortunate for the kids they never got a break in the season. Maybe with some rest they win another game and make the tournament. As a coach maybe I sacrifice my 2nd non-district game and give the kids a break. Idk, tough call.

It's going to be an interesting 1st round. Aledo will whoop shoemaker like a red headed step child. Lake Belton is a tough and gritty team. They will play hard for 60 minutes plus. Not sure they can pull of the W but they'll let the other team know they're in a fight. Red Oak is a quality team, unfortunately they get Denton Ryan. Tough 1st round for them. They could pull what I consider an upset, but I doubt it. Midlothian definitely has the best chance of winning, but district 3 is just a tough district.

D3 goes against D4 in the 1st round of the playoffs. No doubt in my mind these are the better districts in R1.
R4 (8-2) Red Oak vs T3 (6-3) Denton Ryan R3 (9-1) Burleson Centennial vs T4 (8-2) Lake Belton W3 (8-2) Aledo vs F4 (8-2) Killeen Shoemaker W4 (10-0) Midlothian vs F3 (6-4) Justin Northwest
R4 (8-2) Red Oak vs T3 (6-3) Denton Ryan
The Denton Ryan defense against the Red Oak offense will be the deciding factor in this game. From the highlights I watched, it seems that Red Oak is dynamic on offense and if they can carry that over against Ryan then they have a real shot to knock them off. However the best player on the field is going to be WR #4 for Denton Ryan. He is going to make a big play or two. Maybe the injury to the Denton Ryan RB has been a bigger factor than I thought but he has not really dominated a game like I think he is capable of doing. At the end of the day I do see Ryan winning and advancing.
R3 (9-1) Burleson Centennial vs T4 (8-2) Lake Belton
I would think this is the game of the week from our district. I think these teams are evenly matched and this will be a physical test for both squads. I've seen each team play multiple times and I think its going to be close. Ultimately I think Centennial will be able to manage the game better and they come away with a win at home.
W3 (8-2) Aledo vs F4 (8-2) Killeen Shoemaker
One of the best 4th place teams in the whole tournament. They have home run hitters on offense and a defense that gives up 16.7 points a game. I dont say this lightly but this will be one of the best teams Aledo has played in the first round in 15 years or so. I was actually impressed with them when I was researching the team. They had some close games against Midlothian and Red Oak losing by a combined 8 points! Aledo will be ready and I think we win this game pulling away at the end. Would not surprise to for it to be close at half or if Shoemaker has the lead before halftime.
W4 (10-0) Midlothian vs F3 (6-4) Justin Northwest
Midlothian has been battle tested and has performed like a top 10 team most of the season. They had a close call against Lake Belton but I dont think NW has enough to pull off the upset. NW offensively should be able to move the ball and score but I dont think the defense will be able to hold up their end of the bargain. Midlothian moves on to the 2nd round.

I had us going 3-1 but Ryan messed that up. Oh well. See yall next year in Aledo! - Red Oak came back from 21-0 and won on a two point conversion in OT - Centennial went out to a 14-0 lead before it got tied up, then they went to work and pulled away with a very tough and respectable victory - Aledo was very workman like and blanked Shoemaker - Only game I did not follow along. Not sure how it went but know Midlothian won.

Our district had a very strong showing overall with Aledo and Burleson Centennial being the final 2 teams in the region. I will say the closest Aledo came to losing at any point in the playoffs was to Midlothian in the 3rd round! Being able to win that game was a testament to this teams ability to battle adversity. Centennial had a very impressive playoff run beating Lake Belton, Amarillo Tascosa, and Abilene. Probably their best playoff run in school history! Denton Ryan was upset in round 1 but I expect them to be back to normal next season. And finally Northwest had a tough draw round 1 against aforementioned Midlothian. For this one season District 3 proved to be the best in Region 1. Looking forward to going after that honor again.

I expect Midlothian, Denton Ryan, and others in the region to be back at it next season. Centennial will enjoy several returning in their OL, DL, and LB rooms. They will lose their 4-year starter at QB and will have to replace him. They also lose two really good RB's but have some thoroughbreds that will emerge through the offseason in that RB room. They'll lose Texas Tech commit Chapman Lewis at SS and will have to replace some open spots in the secondary. The main objective to Centennial's offense is to grind the clock and ball control you but they will need to really take a look at further development of their passing game to compliment the run game. If they can do that and become consistent with it, then it would make them even more difficult to defend.

They see Midlothian beating Aledo in the 4th and Centennial tied in the 3rd and just think Aledo is not as good. But clearly that was not a great assumption. Those teams had better rushing days than Longview and College Station!

The type of offenses that both Midlothian and Centennial bring to the table are not of the flashy, glitz and glimmer variety. I get it. That is what those coaching staffs have decided will be the best fit to give them the best opportunity to win football games. Centennial has now won a lot of them. Midlothian too. To your point, I think it would have been very difficult for both Centennial and Midlothian to come out with a win had they gotten an opportunity to play Longview and College Station, but I will say this, I would have liked to have seen it.
