Gary Patterson’s time at TCU has come to an end. After coaching at TCU for the past 24 years, including 21 seasons as the head coach, the school decided to part ways with Patterson on Sunday. In a statement, TCU athletic director Jeremiah Donati said he and chancellor Victor Boschini asked Patterson to coach for the remainder of the season, but Patterson declined. "We asked him to continue on as our head coach for the remainder of the season, and take on a different role in 2022, but he believed it was in the team's and TCU's best interests to begin the transition immediately," Donati said. "We respect Coach Patterson's perspective and will move forward in that direction." sports.yahoo.com/gary-patterson-tcu-part-ways-after-21-seasons-233202353.html

In other words, Patterson told them to shove it up their arses!
Dumb move on their part. This guy has gotten more out of less than possibly any coach in the nation the past decade or more. Hell, he is 7-3 against UT the past 10 seasons and doesn't have NEAR the talent UT does!
I think they are blooming idiots if they think they are going to find a better coach to lead that program.

Has to be the dumbest move since Tech fired the Pirate. Can’t believe he’d been there that long. Not sure how they think they will up grade with a new coach. Oh well

TCU will have its hands full looking for a top coaching candidate to come to Fort Worth. LSU, Miami, TX Tech, Florida, USC, FSU, and Nebraska are just a few of the power 5 schools that will be looking for coaches. Not to mention if those programs poach an HC from another power 5 schools like Iowa St, Ole Miss, or Penn St. If Harbaugh fails to get his Michigan team to the Big 10 title game his spot may be open too.

Crazy how many openings will likely be out there. I think NE is headed in the right direction. Yes they are 3-6 but those 6 losses have come by a total of 33 points and the widest margin was the loss to OK 16-23. Hell, they came a breath from beating Mich just 2 weeks ago.

Has to be the dumbest move since Tech fired the Pirate. Like when the Babe left Boston, a decades long curse was placed on Lubbock when Kent Hance, Craig James, etc ran the Pirate out of town.

Texas Tech has to be one of the hardest places to sell to young recruits. It's 5 hours to DFW and 6-7 hours to SA & Austin, no interstate just to make the trip a bit faster a small Airport so you are bound to have to make a connection 75% of the time. It's also a dry county.
The only place more remote is Washington St in Pullman WA. The most popular thing in Pullman is the Microsoft hill that was the default windows background for a decade. Yes, I've been there and it's worse than Kingsville.

I grew up in a suburb of Fort Worth seeing TCU get trounced week after week year after year. For me this is akin to Landry leaving Dallas.
