Belton is big and slow for the most part. Speed kills them, That is why Shoemaker and other Killeen schools are closing in on them now able to beat them or come close. Of course every team at some point have talent and make a run. Belton has few and far between. They have had few teams in the past that have been really good, but never state material. Look at Desoto, Duncanville, Cedar Hill. Look at the nauseating talent they all have every yr and all the D1 talent they have. They more than not don't win state. Duncanville just recently have made noise, but they have always had alot of D1 guys, and not made noise Belton doesn't even come close to their talent ever. When you have to play teams like Allen in the 2nd round, not sure if you can call that a choke job. 24-7.

Duncanville had some great teams as far back as the late 90s. They beat Judson in the 98' title game and made some other deep runs to. Also, CH has won 38 playoff games since 2006 and has 5 title game appearances and 3 big trophies in their case. I'd say that is damn productive playing in the largest classification. DeSoto probably fits the bill the most but you have to keep in mind that the Eagles lost 2 times to 2 great Allen teams in the semis. They likely have 3 titles instead of just one if not for that.

I was just using their size and past players as an example. I agree, with the addition of Lake Belton I dont think Belton will be as good as years past. I look for them to be the 4th,5th place team from here on out, Lake Belton has some decent players from what I've seen and look to compete in whatever district they get thrown in next year. There's 4 scenarios that could play out for LB next year, They could end up in the Liberty Hill District,Aledo District,La Vega District or Lampasas/LBJ District. I'm kind of curious how it all plays out.

Since I've been up here I've seen this team quite a bit. 2019 was horrible. Went to a game just before district started that season and they could not get lined up properly on offense. This was at least three weeks into the season. I actually left at Halftime. And I never leave a game before the end. Of course hey were nowhere near the playoffs. 2020 they actually made the playoffs. don't know how they turned it around but I expect them to do that again this season. They have some good young players coming back to build off of and to be honest , Other than Temple, There is not any teams that they don't have a good chance of beating. Problem with making the playoffs they face off with Cedar Hills district in the first round. After a very rough start, and the loss of their starting QB. Bryan Vikings rebounded to make the playoffs. Happens to be what I was thinking would happen but after going 0 for non District I did have my doubts. I would have to say this has been a good season for the Vikings. Problem is now they have to face Cedar Hill in the first round again. A repeat of last year. And being honest I expect the same result.

It will be interesting what happens to this district in realignment. Belton will drop to 5A because of Lake Belton. All of the Killeen schools will also drop with the exception of Harker Heights because of Chaparral opening. That leaves HH, Temple, Copperas Cove and Bryan. So will they be split up or do some other schools get moved over to join them.

With the departure of most of Killeen and Belton, I can see them bringing Waco Midway back to that district. Temple HH Bryan Cove Midway Westwood Stony Point Round Rock That would be a much better district competitive wise than the current one with the Killeen schools and Belton.

Bryan High with major changes going in to 2022. two major things have happened. HC Ross Rodgers has called it a career. Leaving the Vikings to find a new HC and probably significant changes to the coaching staff, Unless it's an inside hire. Haven't heard anything yet. Next is the realignment for 22-23. Lake Belton and Killeen Chapparal opening have forced major changes. So will Bryan stay with Temple, Harker Heights and Copperas Cove or do the go back down to the Houston area like they were before this realignment.

New Coach hired at Bryan High. Ricky Tullos, formerly the HC at Pearland and George Ranch has been hired to replace Coach Ross Rogers as the Vikings HC. I really like this hire and he starts Jan 27th at BHS. Rogers isn't retiring until the end of the school year so they will have some overlap. Time will tell how that works out. Tullos started the program at GR and led them to the 5A State Championship in 2015. In his Introductory Press Conference, he said Bryan was a Destination Job for him and he hoped that his Grandkids would come to see him Coach in Merrill Green Stadium. So it sounds like he intends to be around long term. That is how it's been at Bryan. They have had just 5 coaches in school history. Now let's just see how the realignment pans out and get ready for the 2022 season.

But where did you read that Bryan HS has had only 5 coaches in their history?? I see 5 since 1972 and before that more than you want to try and count. I see 10 more back to 1932 and prior to that a bunch more
