Several sources are citing that the Governor will announce a Texas statewide shutdown by Friday. If you want to know why? Then wake up and smell the Roses. We are in a mess due to irresponsible people, " Doing what they want to do!" Your posts (rhetoric) sound like you are in that category as well. So enjoy what those careless people did the past two months. Texas should have taken this pandemic serious. So now we reap what careless people sowed. There will not be in classroom school for a while. Any responsible parent will not put their kids at risk above and beyond the normal risks of school and sports. Saw a national interview with the Governor tonight and said he isn’t even considering another state shutdown. Sounds like they have been trying to pressure the Governor via media articles.

The vaccine is a must. Lots of people say "move forward" but the question is: how? Would you let your child play if members of the team are positive? Would you want him to bring it into your house? How about the coaches? Many are older gentlemen who may have underlying conditions. A vaccine would be a foundation for the return to normal, someday. I don’t know what the answer is but just read an article that a friend of mine who is a doctor shared. More deaths have occurred by suicide in California in the last 4 weeks than all of last year according to doctors in that state. Tennessee reporting the same thing. They are citing it “deaths of despair”. That is concerning also. What about how teenagers deal with this long term? They can’t go to school. They can’t play the sport they love after years of investment. They can’t be out with their friends (which most do anyway). When does suicide become an issue there and will anyone listen then? Teenagers need social development and struggle with emotions - especially if not in a stable home. The fallout to this is way bigger than just the virus. You know everyone huh? You're so full of crap. I know your life revolves around Calallen football but damn, life will be ok if the season is missed in 2020. Danaher is 100 years old....let him get exposed by one of the kids since you think it's not a big deal in almost all of your posts.

Wow calcatgirl the motormouth are coming at you big time. They need to compare the age of Coach G.H.Moore and Coach Gordon Wood when they retired. What about that Coach At Highland Park. It is not about age, it is about when it is not fun to coach anymore. It is about helping kids improve their character. Are you going to listen to a wining coach more than a losing coach.
Now back to the knuckle daggers; If the government would check the bank accounts of the testers reporting, they might be in shock. Wen a testing facility reports 96% of the people are positive something is wrong. Especially when they are checked on and it turns out only 9% are positive. If it is happening in Florida’s, it is happening in California and NewYork. I think they need to check up on all of the states that have the best chance of electing someone they want elected. I believe on my previous post that this will fizzle after the election. Look how much that has been spent such as Mueller report and impeachment to hurt President Donald Trump. If Coach Danaher still has value to improve character of the youth leave him alone. He will have all he can handle against 4 or 5 other teams in district.

Calcatgirl let me handle, you are personally involved and still in shock at there statemen. This tough ol buzzard nearl shed tears that a supposed true sportsman on here would hint that a coach or anyone should catch the virus. I went throug 11 treatment of Chemo and survived and I will celebrate my 83 Birtday next week. I saw where a small baby died of the virus next week. This virus does not care about age. We are seeing students who show bad character all over the country. We need people looking at what is going on and crack down on lack of discipline in the country. What better place than athletics. Get these back out on the field. Gatting kids in shape improves imunity.

No one is referring to their age and their ability to coach because of their age. We're talking about the virus and the risk of the elderly when exposed to it. You really think Danaher at his age isn't a high risk? Ok, let him get exposed by the young kids since it's just a hoax against Trump *eye roll* Kids get infected at practice and brings it home to their family and their parents may not fair as well as him. We're seeing that kind of thing happening all over where younger kids are bringing it home to their parents and grandparents and they are not surviving. The teachers and coaches should be concerned because they are older and higher risk. I shouldn't be surprised that some people have their priorities all f'ed up.

I’ve done a lot of reading on this. It’s seems some want to “protect” a section of society as others go about their daily business. This makes me sick.
When someone says “protect” the elderly, or others at high risk, they are essentially saying, lock them up, don’t let them out.
That’s walking a dangerous line. As denying a section of society to certain inalienable rights so the larger section of society can go about the daily business, is selfish and disheartening. By using the word “protect” you are really saying lockem up. Don’t let them out.
Today’s society would never have survived the world wars and the US would no longer be what we no it as today. Why do we have what we have today? Because generations before us put country ahead of self, today it is self ahead of country. Makes me sick.
Why can’t we all do what’s best for society as a whole, get rid of this virus and then continue our lives. The folks who thrive off conspiracy theories are not going to let this happen, and for that, we will be in this mess until a vaccine is available.
Then...... you have the anti vaccine people. Those are the ones who should be “protected” as some would say.

My son works at a hospital and rejects the claim that each Coronavirus case that goes to ICU gets big check for the hospital However we know of one man being treated in ICU tested negative for the virus. There are other country’s that are back to school and no problem.

I have a grand daughter that stepped down from teaching as she had twins to go along with the one she already had and the economist of childcare caused her to step down from teaching. Her district is going to virtual teaching and she is going to home schooling rather than have her son set in front of a computer all day. We want to maintain the freedom of choice. This is the USA. Give the athlete the choice to compete or drop out of competing. Give the student the choice of home school or choice of virtual school or in school teaching or private school. I know from people that sent their student to private school got better education. It cost $9,000 per year and you had to provide transportation. Also it only went to 8th grade. Now he is in HS that spends more than that per student and less quality education. Nobody seems to want to fix that without throwing more money at it.

You just don't seem to understand that the concern isn't just for healthy athletes but for family members and coaches. If your grandson was playing right now and several kids on the team tested positive, would you and your wife be comfortable having him visit you? If you say yes, your delusional.

No one wants to do what is best for society. I knew this was going to happen back in March when things were starting to shut down. I told a friend it will never work in the current USA because we are a population of entitled spoiled and selfish people. If people would have spent the last 3-4 months actually listening and doing what is good for society we would be having football in the fall. We have no one to blame but ourselves for not having football in the fall.

We are not going to have a season this fall. We might as well accept this now and move on to plan B.
If plan B means flipping the sports seasons with spring sports commencing sometime in Sept or Oct, let's have that call made now in order for plans to be implemented. The upside is most of those sports do not require much of a training period to get in shape. Most of your baseball and softball players who are going to probably start on their respective teams are playing summer ball right now.
The truth about the data will come out later when the pandemic subsides. I used to work healthcare finance and if we would have done what some of those Florida facilities just were revealed to have done, I'd be at a Club Fed or somewhere. Historians are going to write one day that what we think we are doing right today was wrong and vice versa. Kind of like when an an examination is done on a war , a major government initiative or something else that involves multiple decision makers and money. Usually it takes a few years or even decades, but pieces of the puzzle are put together once papers and other communications from the decision makers are available for public scrutiny.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for not having football in the fall. You need to understand "selfishness' as you describe works both ways. One thing that has me pissed as hell is some (not all) in the education and government sector who are all on board about a locking down everything and anything and until the virus is under control. It is VERY easy for them to say this when they are getting paychecks. A few on my Facebook and other social media have either forgotten or don't care to broadcast what they are doing while they are on the clock and it has absolutely nothing to do with their work. But man they post like rabid dogs that everyone should obey and get in line and not question anything or even suggesting you are part of the problem if you are not shutting down. They really don't give a rat's ass about the mom and pop shops and establishments trying to stay alive.... Oh but then the say there are government programs to help you. Nope, not as easy as it sounds especially if you are still a start up and SBA and other programs want collateral and balance sheets showing you've been in business for more than two years. Stimulus payments? LMAO . I didn't get one because although my 2019 income reflects I'm eligible, my 2018 showed I wasn't and that's what they based the stuff on . But alot of that surplus income from 2018 went into my start up so it's not like I have 'bank" to rely for either personal or operational cost. I get that maybe some of the venues or what have you that act as incubators could have been scaled or not encouraged to attract the numbers they did which should have included all the protest going on the last month and a half. BTW why doesn't the media put two and two together with all that with the increase in youth numbers coming down with the virus instead of trying to blame it all on beach activity or hanging out at the river or lakes? Does the virus skip around the bayfront here in Corpus where the protests have been happening and go over to JP Luby or Padre Island Sea Shore? Can someone ask Dr Fauci this? No seriously because this is another thing lost on the shut down and keep everything shutdown people is the same people they hold in regard were and continue to be very contradictory themselves with the onset of the virus and continue to be so today when they said they had no problem with the protests but now you need to consider shutting down your church, gym or whatever public venue even if you show up in hazmat suit and do everything the CDC and state health dept says to a "T".

This whole thing is a tough deal. The places that are doing well shut down early and stayed shut down until the virus was under control. A shutdown in my opinion is the only thing that’s gonna slow this thing down. Easy to say and hard to do. I don’t want see people go without paychecks and lose their business that they have worked a lifetime to achieve. I don’t want to see people killing them selves due to depression over this stuff. I want kids back in school and playing sports just as bad as anyone else! I would agree with a couple of other posters here that we do not have the disciple in our society to follow enough rules to tame the virus down. We are not letting science lead us right now, the virus becoming politicized was the worst thing that could have happened. The only thing that’s gonna give us separation from Covid is if everybody gets on the same page AND.......the page/message is clear and consistent.
