I don't disagree with WP4L's picks, as I don't disagree with the picks from DCTF. What I do agree on is where Lufkin is placed. They have the talent to play with most any school. They have a lot to prove after DCTF rated them highly the past two years, only to see them go out in the 2nd round and 1st round last year at home. Many in Lufkin have taken the stand that the program lacks is the overall coaching to get our talent to the top level. HC Todd Quick is as good as they come, so are 3 or 4 of his other assistant coaches on that staff, Zeke Fancher comes to mind. However, there are also long term close assistant ties that hinder too. Those are the perceived issues with Lufkin. That is all I can say.

DCTF released their top 25 recently. I've actually had a top 20 for a while, but never posted it on this specific board. Interesting that they are higher on some teams than I am, just as I am high on some teams that they aren't. Here's my top 20:
1. Longview 2. Denton Ryan 3. Lancaster 4. Lone Star 5. Highland Park 6. Cedar Park 7. Frisco Independence 8. Colleyville Heritage 9. Richmond Foster 10. Mansfield Summit 11. Red Oak 12. Manvel 13. Lufkin 14. Abilene Cooper 15. College Station 16. Amarillo 17. Tascosa 18. New Caney 19. FB Hightower 20. Azle
Others that can't be slept on: Midlothian, Birdville, Sherman, McKinney North and Hendrickson
I would flip Manvel and Foster . Manvel was young and should be better. Foster lost the starting QB and last time that happened they had to get the RB to play QB. So to think they will just replace him is not realistic. Great thing is that is our district and it will play out. Also not sure on Hightower. They beat us Angleton by 3 points great win for them. But we played most of the game with the 3rd string QB and almost pulled it off. Had the #2 guy stayed in the game I think he would of been the difference. I am sure he is ready for his chance to play them again this year.
I agree. Foster will be tough but I think Manvel will be the better team. This District will be tough for sure.
TWolvesFan: Now is the time we get to see where the proverbial rubber hits road in both 5a DI & DII. We will all find out starting this week; who is for real, who will surprise, and who will disappoint! Gotta LOVE HS Football!

ils1: Could've been worse. But called off the dogs in the middle of the 3rd. Good Luck tonight CP and Manor (they have the talent but need to put it together).

arges: Austin ISD has a history wanting to keep their schools together. With the LBJ/LASA split, I suspect they may opt Eastside Memorial up regardless of them not being able to score.

arges: Austin Northeast/Reagan is not include either.
