Cedar Park's 60-point first half helps T'Wolves throttle Leander
LEANDER: The first half was enough as state ranked Cedar Park put on a dominating first half performance to beat Leander 60-7 at A.C. Bible Stadium.
Cedar Park rolled up 60 points in the first half as five different Timberwolves scored touchdowns including three by Cade Haught and two by Kevin Adams. Quarterback Ryder Hernandez completed 11 of 17 passes for 233 yards and four first-half touchdowns. Hernandez, who did not play in the second half, took a knee on the final Cedar Park plays of the first half after the Timberwolves had rolled up nearly 500 years of total offense in the first two quarters.
The Timberwolves (6-0, 4-0 District 11-5A Division I) scored on every possession but their final one of the first half as Gunnar Abseck opened the scoring off a 32-yard screen pass from Hernandez. Adams then scored on a 29-yard run and Haught scored on a 52-yard run to round out the first quarter scoring.
On the first play of the second quarter, Hernandez tossed 16-yard scoring pass to Jack Hestera. Haught had a 14-yard scoring run and Adams caught a 52-yard scoring pass from Hernandez then Haught had a 51-yard scoring reception from Hernandez. Following a safety, Gavin Mundell had a 46-yard scoring run.
The Cedar Park “Black Rain” defense limited Leander to minus seven yards rushing in the first half and stopped the first Lion drive with an interception by Casyn Wiesenhutter. Wiesenhutter notched eight tackles for loss and recorded a safety on the night.
Leander (2-5, 2-3) got on the scoreboard in the third quarter when Garrett Landry tossed a 35-yard strike down the sideline to Caden Wheatley. The Lions managed 95 yards of offense in the third quarter after accumulating just a net of 60 in the first half. Alex Franklin finished the game with 63 yards rushing 17 carries for the Lions while Landry completed 10 passes for 147 yards.
Next up: Cedar Park hosts Pflugerville as Leander travels to Georgetown

Here are the CP scoring averages after 6 games:
Defense:
Scoring Averages | 1st Half | 2nd Half | Per Game | Pts. Allowed | 5.2 | 8.2 | 13.4 |
Offense:
Scoring Averages | 1st Half | 2nd Half | Per Game | Pts. Scored | 40.0 | 13.4 | 53.4 |
...this isn't being done against a predominately weak Dallas ISD, San Antonio ISD, or Austin ISD district!

COVID has hit the TWolves and are rescheduling the Pflugerville game to Friday November 27th @ 7:00 PM Unfortunately, CP will have to forfeit the Pf. Weiss game due to the 14 day requirement and there is no more time before playoffs to reschedule the game. Ultimately, I don't think it will matter in the long run with the standings, but now CP MUST beat Pflugerville & Manor to be considered wD11 or District Champs!
I've updated the district standings as well as the remaining schedule on the 5a D1 District 11 thread!

Cedar Park football schedule shifts after player tests positive for COVID-19
Austin American Statesman by Rick Cantu
The dates for Cedar Park’s final three regular-season games have been shifted because one member of the football team has tested positive for COVID-19.
The Cedar Park-Pflugerville game, originally set to be played this Friday at Gupton Stadium, has been changed to Wednesday Nov. 25 — the day before Thanksgiving. Game time will be 2 p.m.
The Cedar Park-Weiss game, originally set for Nov. 19, will now be played on Monday, Nov. 30. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Pfield.
Cedar Park’s final game of the regular season against Manor will move from Friday Dec. 4 to Saturday Dec. 5, @ 11 a.m.
The odd dates were required because the University Interscholastic League mandates there must be a five-day waiting period between games.
Also, the Weiss-Anderson game set for Nov. 27 will be played on Nov. 25.
Cedar Park coach Carl Abseck said his team is disappointed it will not play on Friday. The Timberwolves are one of the best Class 5A teams in the state, sporting a 6-0 record, 4-0 in District 11-5A Division I.
“The best thing for us is that this doesn’t end the season,” he said. “We have a shot (in the playoffs). I like my team. I’ll make my chances with them.”
Abseck said one player had a temperature on Saturday and has been isolated from the team since then. He learned about his positive coronavirus test this week.

To finish the regular season, Cedar Park will be put to the test; not just from the competition, but with the compressed schedule too! Besides remote film seasons there will be NO face to face practice or use of the CP weight room while in quarantine.
[li] Mon. 11/23 First day back for full practice[/li]
[li] Wed. 11/25 Pflugerville vs CP @ 2:00 pm[/li]
[li] Thur. 11/26 Thanksgiving - Film[/li][/ul] [li] Fri. 11/27 - Sun. 11/29 Practice - Walk-throughs [/li]
[li] Mon. 11/30 CP at Pf. Weiss @ 7:00 pm (PField)[/li]
[li] Tue. 12/1 - Fri. 12/4 Film, Practice, Walk-throughs[/li]
[li] Sat. 12/5 Manor vs CP @ 11:00 am (Senior Day)[/li][/ul]
Cedar Park will be playing 3 games within 13 days or less than 2 weeks. That’s a game every 4 days (on avg.) with the Thanksgiving Holiday in there as well. Now that is super tough... CP Has Gotta Stay Focused!!
Go TWolves!
