Do you like their game being the last game of District? I do. If any game can get a team ready for the playoffs it’s this one. Cons would be both teams might be lumped up pretty good after this game, and possibility of teams meeting again in the playoffs so do you show all your cards or do you keep a few back. Truth be told I don't see any of the 4 playoff teams from this district losing in the first round vs District 16.

Calhoun County Football season tickets are suspended, according to a Calhoun County ISD press release issued Tuesday, and Sandcrabs’ and Sandies’ tickets will be limited to family and participants.
CCISD Superintendent Larry Nichols wrote a letter to the Calhoun fans in the press release explaining the decision.
“We appreciate the widespread community support for the Sandcrabs and Sandies,” Nichols said in the press release. “The 2020 school year will begin with COVID-19 as a factor to be considered.”
Nichols went into detail on the district’s decision and said, “The conditions of the virus and community, according to the medical experts and medical providers, indicate that there is still significant community spread. And cases are not always reported in a timely way to the health department.”
With scrimmages for volleyball and football coming up, according to Nichols, the district doesn’t want to “create a situation” regarding spreading the virus.
Nichols stated that the problem is “getting in and out of the stands”, waiting in line, and concession stand lines.
“It is true that our stands are large, but it is also true that you have to get there, and you have to leave,” Nichols said. “So that is when the mixing would take place, and we don’t think that’s wise at this time.”
Athletic Director and Sandcrabs Head Football Coach Richard Whitaker talked about the district’s decision on Tuesday.
Whitaker said Nichols and the school board visited him and talked about the situation.
Whitaker talked about the Calhoun fans, and he said how much he appreciates their support and their love for the student-athletes.
“I told Mr. Nichols from the get-go this year, that this year has to be about our kids to have an opportunity to play, and that was the most important thing,” Whitaker said. “If we can get them an opportunity to play, that should rank higher than anything else.”
Whitaker added if the players get an opportunity to play, the most important people to see them are the parents and family.
Nichols talked about visiting opponents’ fans coming to the stadium, and he said they’ll have a district meeting regarding district games. For non-district games, CCISD will contact the non-district opponent’s district and inform them that they are limiting attendance numbers at the games.
“We don’t want an athletic contest to contribute to the spread of the virus,” Nichols said. “This is a worldwide pandemic, and we cannot act as though it does not exist. We have to respond.”
The UIL announced in June that schools are allowed to stream football games on Friday nights, and Whitaker discussed the plans for streaming the games.
Whitaker said Marcus Martinez, CCISD Technology Director, is working on getting internet access to the stadium for live-streaming games.
“Hopefully, that will happen and give our fans a chance to watch the games live,” Whitaker said.
Nichols talked about safety protocols, and “by following” them, CCISD will have a chance to have a successful school year and athletics year, “if they do what they are supposed to do.”
With the announcement of season football ticket sales being suspended for this year only, Nichols stated in the press release that passes to Sandies’ volleyball games will be “limited to participants and their families”.

Agree 16 aint beatin' anyone out of 15 I'll give La Feria a chance as a #1 playing against a #4. Other than that... Last spring I would have said they had zero chance against district 15's number four. Now it's possible they might have a slight to fair chance. Cal, PLC and Miller will finish somewhere from 1 to 3. Four is going to be between Alice and Beeville I think. It looks like Alice is not going to start anytime soon, so they will be on the same page as La Feria because they are delaying due to county mandate to October. Beeville is kind of in suspension at the moment as they've put practices on hold, but still look to start games when the rest of us do. But what if they decided to kick the can down the road and end up losing their first couple of games to forfeits because they suspend activities again? TM should be working their asses off because they have a chance to take advantage of this and get that forth spot.

Man, you guys are probably right about LaFeria. They have done pretty dang well the last few years picking up some pretty nice Ws in the playoffs against LaVernia most recently and Beeville a couple years ago. They certainly would have a shot at knocking off a 4 seed from 15

Sounds like Navarro def off the schedule. Might be the norm for this season with teams. Hopefully not.

I talked to a friend of mine today whos daughter is in the Calhoun Band and he told me they where not practicing because a band member tested positive and he told me there has been some positive test on some students already in school. I did ask him if the Band was going to perform this year at games and he told me yes they where supposed to but not sure now what will happen.

After reading this article and Calhoun having to replace all of their offensive line and linebackers I think Calhoun will be in good shape and its offensive line may be bigger then last years they just need time to develop and sounds like we may see two QBS getting snaps this year got to let Stewart rest sometimes since he will be playing both ways... 361hsblast.com/2020/08/12/mattrogers/football/2020-calhoun-football-outlook/

Now Calhoun lost its scrimmage because of Columbia backing out Schools are falling like flies.... because of this virus ....
PORT LAVACA – Calhoun’s scrimmage against Columbia scheduled for Thursday at Sandcrab Stadium has been canceled.
Calhoun also had its Week 1 game on Aug. 28 against Geronimo Navarro at Sandcrab Stadium canceled.
The Week 1 game was canceled after 10 staff members and eight students in extracurricular activities in the Navarro school district tested

PLC needs that work to get ready for district. This sucks!

Prayers for the guys hurt or killed in the Dredging Barge accident in the ship channell.. That company was originally Kingfisher Marine and I have been to their yard in Indianola Beach and most of the employees lived in Port Lavaca. Orion bought them out about 1998.
