I think you might put a asterisk by Austin Ochoas’s name on a list of the 2 players from other schools. Austin Ochoa was raised up in Refugio and then moved to GP. Like ET, he went home.
Ingleside had a HC named Graig Hesseltine that came from Skidmore and tried to build up Ingleside and got crossways with super on getting equipment for team. and short stop at Refugio and now coaching at Beeville. He lives on a small farm between Refugio and Beeville and kids go to school in Refugio. Thus Bobcat Colton Heselltine . Daughter grad Ingleside and now at Texas Tech. Son Caleb in 7th grade at Refugio. Colton was not recruited by Refugio and dad went job hunting after issues with Ingleside Supt. I have seen Ingleside offseason equip. And it is pathetic.
Refugio had a QB Jared Kelly and TV was wrong Austin Ochoa played at Refugio his JR year also. Coach Herring changed his offense to fit QB Jared Kelly and Austin Ochoa played LB. The offense change was a disaster and Refugio went back to old offense which fit Austin Ochoa and Ochoa became starting QB. Both Austin and Jared Kelly played baseball andJared Kelly went to UT.
GP Benefited by the transfer of Devin Bisby from Refugio. His dad played at Refugio under Coach George Harris thus Coach Harris to GP gained Devin Bisby to GP.
Coach Harris went from GP to Refugio and took his son with him and continued to live in Portland. Coach Harris son was a great football player and great benifit to Refugio. Coach Harris daughter was great track athlete and became Coach Kerri Harris at East Bernard under Coach Jerry Long a former Coach under Coach Harris and her son was super athlete at East Bernard. Sometimes it is who you know.
Refugio had some starters out with injury and Coach Herring was not sure how they would perform. The players stepped it up.

WFC, You always complain about being called Mr Negative. The VAST majority of your posts are negative. Here's what I noticed recently: after the San Augustine game you took great pains to comment about Austin. He played badly against Cal as a sophomore. He can't handle pressure, he throws soft passes and isn't very fast, ETC ETC ETC. Yesterday he threw for over 200 yds, ran for over 100, scored ALL 4 of his team's touchdowns. Was voted MVP of the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. YET NOTHING FROM YOU ABOUT HIS PERFORMANCE EXCEPT THAT HE GOT CAUGHT FROM BEHIND BY SEVERAL POST PLAYERS. Make sure you always emphasize the negative. That's your style.

Cochino made a comment about Refugio not being able to play with upper level teams and I agreed and commented about Austin Ochoa. Do you think Austin Ochoa and Calallen could win state because Austin Ochoa is QB at Calallen. Austi Ochoa is a Baseball pitcher playing QB at Refugio. There are a lot of Baseball Pitchers playing football. My style is promoting kids to greater things post football

He is a senior at Refugio this year and didn’t play football. He committed to UT but more than likely go pro depending on where he is drafted! Kids a fire baller!!

I told my son he had another year and Jared Kelly disappeared and I thought might be I was wrong. My son goes to UT games and they aren’t doing real well and he is hoping for new blood. Jared Kelly outduled that pitcher over at Banquete who is going to UH. GP was doing great and beating everybody in dist, and Austin Ochoa got a injury and that ended GP baseball. It would be great for Refugio to win state in baseball also.

There are a lot of Baseball Pitchers playing football. My style is promoting kids to greater things post football Here's a lesson for you: FOOTBALL IS A TEAM GAME CONSISTING IF OFFENSE, DEFENSE , AND SPECIAL TEAMS. So to answer your question Cal would not win state with Ochoa at QB. Not sure what you were getting at with that question anyway. Austin is a baseball AND football player who happens to be better at baseball. Just how were you promoting Austin to greater things? By commenting in detail about his game against Calallen two years ago and then offering NO PRAISE for his state title performance. I'D REALLY LIKE TO KNOW. You aren't making any sense.

You are a headache and GPfannie55 is a pill ,you need to get together. Well since I'm still Gpfannie 55, you've given yourself a perfect name: Mr. Jibberish. Perfect name.

You are a headache and GPfannie55 is a pill ,you need to get together. I see why you get a headache: people call you out on your jibberish and confront you with the truth and you have no idea how to respond. That would give anybody a headache .

Still can’t believe the lost but they should have a good run this year and are probably the favorites. My son graduated from UT and I’m sorry to say, butt they don’t expect Kelly to be there next year. He is projected as a early round pick in the mlb. So he may go straight to pro ball.

That's your style. This young man played well in the title game Wednesday night for sure. But let's not forget that this is 2a ball, not 5a. From what I saw I would say he was a good 2a QB but to be perfectly honest he would be a very average 5a QB. Arm strength was pretty average and he would not even be close to being considered a DT QB at that level. He had a very good supporting crew IMO including a damn good offensive line even considering their best O-lineman was on the sidelines on crutches after being injured in the semi game.

As I stated in my previous post, he would be a very average 5a QB. I've heard he is a damn good pitcher though and I'm glad to see him committed to UTSA. I've heard the WR who was the Refugio QB 2 years ago as a sophomore is going to be drafted in the MLB very high this year.
