Chino, though I completely agree and love your idea to do this I'm just not sure this style works anymore in MOST places. Seems as though we now have coaches that try and be 'cool' and 'hip' to their players instead of being more of a disciplinarian and enforcer type. And, since this is on the '4a tab' I'm guessing it is basically a done deal that the Yotes are moving to 4a D1 this alignment coming up?? If so, 4a D1 with the addition of Cal, PLC, and Alice is going to go from tough in R4 to a blood bath to get to the semis! Alice already has that type of coaching situation and it doesn't get the most out of the team. Add to that a "friday night lights" type situation with ex-players and fans that are always up in the coach's nuts and it's a recipe for mediocrity. I understand it if it's someone with a kid in the program but when it's just randoms it's ridiculous. I hear ya man and agree completely. I like you believe the only way to build a strong, great program is to set rules and live by them.....EQUALLY no matter if it is a 3rd string senior breaking them or a 5 star! See coach Kay at North Shore as a FANTASTIC example of this just this past month when he sent a 5 star home the night before the title game.

Not necessarily what? It doesn't matter if La Vega moves to R4 or not because it will still be a blood bath to get out of the region in 4a D1 with the addition of so many good football teams moving down from 5a D2

My perspective was that there’s no advantage to our D2 teams dropping down. 4A D1 is plenty tough on it’s own with the possibility of La Vega going to Region 4. I see what you are saying now and you are correct. It will be brutal.

There may be one or two very good teams each year in 5a D2 but there will likely be 3-5 very good teams in 4a D1 in this region. Whoever survives it and gets out of the region in 4a D1 will be battle tested...…….let's just hope they are not too dadgum beatup!

Alice losing some more kids to Calallen from what I can see and I don't blame them one bit. Crazy what a few months can do to change my perspective.

They weren't playing in Alice anyway.. I'm not gonna post names but regardless of who they are or where they were on the depth chart it's still DEPTH lost for Alice and gained for Calallen. And it's just a bad look for your program losing kids yet again to Calallen. Can you imagine Calallen kids leaving Calallen to go to Alice? Hell no.

With all the drama that happened behind the scenes in Alice and that Muleshoe job opening up I think everyone thought Atwood would leave back to his alma mater. Muleshoe just named the Flour Bluff OC as their next head coach.

They both held their kids back a grade just to gain a competitive advantage. Alice will move on, next man up!

How many more years is Alice gonna keep saying "next man up" before something actually changes in the culture? They've won 1 district championship in 35 years. The fans have an Oklahoma mouth with an Iowa State trophy case (unfortunately I speak from experience). I'm so glad that's over and I can see things without blinders on anymore. Jealous parents have a big part in the downfall of that program over the last 2 decades and coming in here and crapping on a family and a kid who was a beast QB, whether you want to admit it or not, and a dad that went out of his way to work extra with not just his kids but everyone else's kids also, proves my point of jealous parents ruining your program. Stop shitting on the people and parents in your own community that are trying to make the program better and actually do something to help it.

Let’s just quit since someone left? You always act like you are so much better than today’s kids. You didn’t even have a winning record when you played. Barely made .500 your senior year and no playoffs! And yes you guys partied back in the day because I know for sure. And quit kissing that guys butt because everything he ever did was only for the benefit of his kids. You should hear the way he would yell at the other kids on the team. He held them back because they weren’t as athletic as he wanted them to be. I will say the older kid was a good passer but he had so many weapons around him that made them successful. But believe me I am not the only one that is glad he is gone. He was a cancer to the program and the coaches were glad to see them leave, mainly because of the dad.

What I'm saying I can say because I can see clearly now that I'm not a part of that program anymore. I was the same as you back when I saw things through those rose colored glasses. Me and that dad you are talking about were at odds at one point because of the crap I said. The same crap you are saying now because you are seeing things through those blinders. That dude was not just about his kids. He was about his kids and their teammates. All I saw running through my facebook newsfeed for all the years they were in Alice was videos the dad posted of his kids AND THEIR TEAMMATES while HE ON HIS OWN TIME were out and about working on drills that HE assembled. Your comments about him just like every other parent are nothing more than jealousy and that's why your program will not progress. So instead of being mad at my honesty go be mad at the community and parents that keep making talent want to leave Alice for other programs.

There were a lot of parents moving to the Calallen and Orange Grove area because of the increase in Oil service company's to that area. they have since moved toward the San Antonio direction and West Texas. Alice had a boom they thought would never end and used bond money to build a convention center and Natatoruim(swimming) among other things and the boom busted and service company's moved out and now they can't pay their bills. The Drilling company's are gone also. My sister in law had a hard time selling her house in Alice when she moved to Corpus to a facility. Alice is not a happy place right now.
