It’s not how we wanted to start the season but the boys fought hard against an extremely talented Cornerstone team. It was an emotional week that still isn’t over. We’ll be ok. Go Cats!

On the bright side, it’s the first game and our offense didn’t look very good at times. Usually that means a deep, deep playoff run.

Great game to watch and congrats to Cornerstone on the win. Cats have some work to do and it’s been a roller coaster for those kids. They will get it ironed out we did some good things tonight.

I thought we looked better in this opener than we had in the past with teams we played who had half the talent. Yes considering the week that was I thought the kids did well. Good we saw some legit speed early. Will hopefully payoff in couple of weeks.

I didn’t even realize Calallen was going to play cornerstone until I was checking the scores tonight. Normally I will always root for San Antonio team over the Cats, but this is a glaring exception. I really dislike Cornerstone and their program. So bummed Cal couldn’t pull it out. But great effort, considering the recruiting factory Cornerstone has over there.

I think the Cornerstone QB is getting most of the credit and not enough credit for that big tackle on defense.

I think the Cornerstone QB is getting most of the credit and not enough credit for that big tackle on defense. My friend from Cornerstone who’s daughter is a senior told me there were Scouts from Ohio State, Texas Tech, TAMU and several other schools there on their side last night. She said they openly admit they were kicked out of TAPPS for recruiting and that’s exactly how they want it. She said they were impressed with Calallen considering how loaded they are from top to bottom with talent.

You guys weren't playing Mercedes. That was a talented team. When the games don't mean anything I would rather look good in a loss then win ugly.I think this team has a chance to be very good.

Agreed. I can think of several times going back 10 or so seasons where looked horrible in winning the first game against Mercedes or another valley school. The 2016 State Finals team barely escaped with a one TD win in the first game against Mercedes .

It’s an experiment worth watching since most Texas Private schools who have tried to build a sports magnet school have failed. The key that helps them is they have good financial backing and they are able to do whatever they want being independent.
