Man drives truck into Whataburger gets arrested for DWI
CORPUS CHRISTI — A 28-year-old man was arrested by Corpus Christi police after he drove his truck into a Whataburger dining room Saturday.
Police were called to the restaurant in the 14300 block of South Padre Island Drive at 2:01 a.m. Employees told officers that a man was parked in the drive-thru and was yelling for his food. The man was told the restaurant had been closed for an hour.
The man drove away. Moments later, employees said they heard a loud crash and saw the man backing his red Ford F-150 out of the side of the building. An employee said the man took a lap around the restaurant before leaving westbound on Park Road 22.
Officers later stopped a red Ford F-150 truck covered in white dust in the 1800 block of Ennis Joslin Road and arrested the driver.
The man was arrested for criminal mischief and driving while intoxicated, police said. He was released on bond Monday afternoon from Nueces County Jail.
