Their freshman pitcher kept us off balance all night. I didn’t like the way we swung the bats vs Carroll. I was concerned they were swinging at too many bad pitches and seemed anxious at the plate. I think the pressure of their ranking and expectations got to them. After they became ranked #1 in mid season, I saw the same thing in the back-to-back shutout losses to Carroll and Vets. Then they refocused and went on another run. After watching them against Carroll, they started looking tight again. Like I texted Bluecat last night, I wasn’t worried about our pitching, but our bats better wake up or we’re done. Bats were silent again with 4 hits in each game vs Rouse. Well, I was hoping this G-P team would be the first one to make it to the State Tourney. My senior year in 1981 we lost to South San Antonio West campus 1-0 in the Region IV final. They ended up winning the State Championship. And in 1988, led by Darren Dreyer, that G-P team lost in the Region IV final I believe to Robstown. We’ve come close, but still haven’t got there yet. Congrats to this year’s G-P team on their record-setting 35 wins. Y’all have nothing to hang your heads for. You brought back a lot of good memories to old farts like me. It was a great run and something you’ll cherish for the rest of your lives!

Coach Ronnie Jones had a little playoff expierence at Rockdale his assistants may be suspect. I thought GP defense was pretty good. The mistake on third base was terrible and should have limit Rouse to 2 runs. Better management of pitching might have let Lott pitch the whole game. Vets coach has a little more experience.

What does better management of pitching mean? Coaching experience had nothing to do with the outcome.

He never answers a direct question. Geriatric Sniping at it's finest. He has no answer. Very true. Throw shade at GP then run away. Just the typical you're not worth the trouble comment, then run and hide behind his other screen name. He's been called out many times and has never managed a honest answer to a honest question. It's kind of sad really. That's why I gave up trying to have an honest conversation with him long ago. It's not worth my time. Watch, He will come back with name Calling now.

G-P pitcher Malachi Lott, catcher Walker Janek, & third baseman Easton Dowell all made All State in baseball. Congrats!

Clem it is for the antagonist who have nothing of value to post. They can google pitching management. The catcher signals the next pitch and he needs to control the percent strikes higher and percent balls lower per 110 pitches. If the pitchers slider is not working well, make another choice. Most HS relievers are a drop off in talent to the starter. The Coach has to do a good job managing his relievers. Sometimes the starter is not doing well after 80 pitches but it may be best to leave him in versus bringing in a less talented reliever. Sinton benefited for years of having the best coach in the country. I went to his retirement ceremony. We seem to have a number of posters who just bray rather than offering something of substance.

I really want to know.
