We had them and let them come back. They scored with 7 seconds left. Penalties killed us.

Credit to Ben Bolt to not give up when they were down. FB hurt themselves with some penalties and turnovers at critical times. It was a good time to open the playbook at little for the experience for district but if the objective was just to win they should have stuck to what got them up and melted the clock as FB was able to get 3 to 5 yards any quick hitting running play they called. Going away from that let BB back in the game several times.

Congrats to BB and also most certainly to the younguns from FB as well.
There is a big difference in all 14-15 year old boys playing against a team with 16-18 year olds......no matter the classification. Two years is a long time for kids to mature and put on muscle mass and such.
If Steele's varsity would play their JV in an actual game, they'd beat the JV 120+ to 0! THERE IS THAT MUCH DIFFERENCE!

BEN BOLT β Flour Bluff's introduction to Class 1A football in Ben Bolt wasn't a good one.
The 1A Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco Badgers scored with seven seconds left in the game to beat Flour Bluff's junior varsity squad, 41-34, Thursday night.
All-state receiver Andres Alaniz caught the game-winner β an eight-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Albert Gonzalez. The touchdown completed a remarkable comeback by the Badgers, who trailed the Class 4A junior varsity team by as much as 19 points in the second quarter.
Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco coach Jeff LeFevre said while the outcome against a junior varsity team is meaningless, the way his team came back after trailing early is encouraging.
"It was good to see our kids play like they did," he said. "It was good to see them fall down and then fight back like they did. That was big to see them come back."
The Badgers (2-0) spotted the Hornets a 26-7 lead in the first quarter and a half of the game.
The onslaught began on the first play when Flour Bluff stunned BB-PB by returning the opening kickoff 78 yards for a touchdown.
The Badgers answered with a slow and steady drive which spanned 13 plays and some six minutes. Running back Gabriel Ramirez capped off the drive with a 25-yard scoring run. He had a handful of key runs in the series, while Alaniz had several big catches and drew a pass interference call for a first down.
Flour Bluff quarterback Johnny Luby then took over. He put the Hornets back on the scoreboard with a 25-yard run. Then, after Flour Bluff took over after a successful onside kick, Luby scored on a six-yard run.
The Hornets' rally continued to the first minutes of the second quarter when Luby completed a 42-yard touchdown pass.
Trailing 26-7, the Badgers seemed down and out, but they bounced back.
The Badgers caught a break when they recovered a Hornets' fumble at the 21-yard line. That setup a 21-yard scamper by Ramirez with 8:22 left in the second quarter.
Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco's defense stymied Flour Bluff's ensuing possession, and the Badgers quickly moved the ball down field with a screen pass to Ivan Gonzalez and an acrobatic catch by Alaniz. The short field made it easy for Ramirez, who scored on a two-yard run with 2:06 left before halftime to cut Flour Bluff's lead to 26-20.
Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco went on to score in the second half on touchdown pass from Gonzalez to Alaniz and Gonzalez.
The Badgers were scheduled to play Lasara Friday, but the game was canceled earlier this week. The game against Flour Bluff's junior varsity was scheduled after that.
