I believe we are disagreeing on different items. The bugle call of the Dodgers does not include a horse. The horse, even though it is on the original logo, was not the reason for the name but given they reference the Trojans as well it is not an unreasonable assumption, I will give you that.

In any account neither have anything to do with lighting bolts. Hank Bauer, Kellen Winslow and Little Train James were fun to watch. Winslow helped raise funds for my son's little league team.

I totally agree.

The name "Chargers" did come from the bugle call and the shout of "Charge!" For the logo to represent the word "Chargers" the horse was added. They did not shout "Chargers!" at the LA Dodgers or USC Trojans games. Why do you think the horse was added to the logo for the "Chargers?" The LA Dodgers have no horse reference at all.

Whatever name or history of the name... I was only saying that if Lovejoy went with their original school mascot of lightening... it would have been pretty cool to use the SD Chargers style helmets. IMO, this horse is now sufficiently beaten.

Who are you speaking to and what point are you making? You asked how are you partially correct. I gave you the process of how the San Diego Chargers logo came about. That is what you first responded in challenging the horse on the logo as meaning "Chargers." This discussion was about the logo "Lightning Bolt" as a possibility for Lucas Lovejoy Lightnings, but Leopards won out in the revote. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using proboards

I would want my mascot to be more related to James Bowie.
Bowie Defenders Bowie Knives (yeah right...it's too violent! oh no!)
As for Austin High, Maroons is just a color name. Like Stanford Cardinal or Syracuse Orange. That fuzz ball mascot came much later.
And y'all haven't heard of doing yeoman's work? Cameron Yoe's mascot is spelled differently to match the Yoe name.

I saw a HS team called the Rams, which was fine, but the girls teams were Lady Rams! I guess calling them Ewes would not have been PC!
Wildcats is not my favorite. but what's in a name? My older kids were Nederland Bulldogs. Funniest thing about that team was they once snuck a spirit shirt that had a soccer ball on the front, and on the back it said "doing it doggie style". They were the talk of the town!

Lady Rams is pretty funny. Do they know what restroom to use?
Longhorns can refer to both male and female. It'd be more like saying Lady Bulls.
