Baseball is a series sport. One game does not provide a true test of the better of two teams. The hardest thing to do in sports is to solidly hit a round ball thrown at speed coming toward you with a round bat while that ball moves in another direction on one and sometimes two other planes. That difficulty is what makes a .400 hitter considered great. Now consider that equates to failure to get a hit most of the time. Bottom line is pitchers usually win the battle and can dominate in a game but they can't pitch three games in a row. Therefore the series is much more of a test of which TEAM is better. On the other hand, those schools that are not as deep in talent as others or maybe thin in the pitching department have an equal chance to advance in a one gamer. CFWB is correct anything can happen, an error, your big hitters going 0-3, or unfortunately sometimes a bad call can decide who advances. I think it should stay the way it is, if you win the flip it's your call. And a bad ump call really stinks, and it's always easy to make the correct call after the fact. Or after watching a parent's video or photo showing them that they missed the call. But I've never been in their shoes in the heat of a big game at this level and had to make that game changing call in a split second knowing one side of the stadium is fixing cheer and the other is fixing to curse at you. You never know who might surprise you this year by choosing a one gamer in a few weeks.

Let's just flip a coin to see who gets their participation trophy first before we head over to Chucky Cheese.

No, I don't think anybody is asking for a coin flip, how about let's just play a one gamer with the best 9-10 boys against the other teams best 9-10 boys. Let them either put up or shut up!! IMO, I just think it should be left the way it is. But I not going to knock you on the Chucky Cheese. They just need to start selling beer again.

I read somewhere that in baseball the better team wins 70% of the time. a believable stat I think.
If I was put in charge it would be a 3 game series. Game 1 at team A home field on Friday night, games 2 & 3 (if necessary) would be a double header at team B Saturday afternoon/evening. 1 hour between games.
Coaches could either decide where 1st game is played, or flip for it.

I would say that could happen only in Laredo but we have a Peter Piper Pizza here in Corpus Christi and I saw a pole yesterday the we are now the #2 most dangerous city to live in Texas, second only to Odessa. And everybody thought Houston and Dallas were bad.

Sometimes deep in talent doesn't always mean the best team either. Our 2015 TM team as it turned out finished towards the bottom of the district but yet is the only team from our district that year to have 5 players now going into their second year of college baseball.

I've learned that championship teams are rarely determined by how good their upper half of players are......usually they are determined by how good their lower half is.
