Agreed heartbreaking, but you cannot win many games scoring one run in two games and giving away others to your opponent. Give credit to Ray and good luck to them and all the seniors. For the guys coming back hopefully we will see some improvement next year. It looks obvious that Gaddis must have been hurt to not pitch at all in the last two series, nothing being said it though. The other guys did a good job which shows we should probably utilize more arms during the regular season. Pitching was not the problem in this series. Lack of bigs hits and errors were our down fall. I go back to what I posted awhile back about when this season ends. To sum it up, the old saying all positions are open next season needs to be embraced and followed as it should of been going back a few seasons now. Too long gone from the state tourney after almost living there in the late 90's to 2011 is not a good sign and something different needs to be tried. Going back to some of the basic building blocks of what made the program great leading up and during those years would be good start towards getting back to Round Rock. The old timers around here know what those building blocks are and it might look like radical today , but it worked. I stand corrected, I just read the Caller Times article about game 3 and saw that Gaddis did come in and pitch 1 plus innings after the Ray 3 run blast with two outs. Now I am more confused to why he did not pitch more in the last two series after being one of the main starters all year. The other boys did pitch well though and that bodes well for next year. You obviously know more about the team past and present than I do, lets hope next year goes better. Just too inconsistent this year hitting wise and our fielding was below Calallen standards with too many errors and pass balls. Good luck to Ray and Moody to carry the torch for 30-5A to state.

Somebody was pitching pretty good for Cal, it was about to go into extra innings and the count was 2-0 when the pitcher threw a fastball and the Ray coach anticipated it and signaled the batter to hit it. What if the Cal pitcher threw a different pitch. Doesn't the catcher call the pitch. Ray won the chess game and Cal played a pretty good game against a pretty good Ray team. It looked like Ray was more enthusiastic on news but I did not see the game.

It was heartbreaking for Cal. But it was good for Ray and good for the district. Dominance by one team and lack of competition Sours the fans and sours the attendance at games. Heartbreaking for us Cal fans. And about the dominance thing, uh we've dominated for over 3 decades. We passed that tree along time ago. Good luck to Ray.

I'm very interested to see how Moody hits Asa Lacy. We are about to find out if Moody's #1 ranking was justified. Well, they did win twice against a very good Texas A&M bound Dustin Saenz. How those two compare against eachother? I've never seen Lacy, although I'd be very surprised if Saenz wasn't the better of the two. I'm sure they are not worried.

I am sure the Cal pitcher would like that pitch back, but yes Cal showed some pitching depth in the last 2 series. Like I said pitching was not issue. Ray made the plays when it counted and they move on. Good luck to them.

I may get a lot of flack other this, but oh well. Some people don't like to hear the truth. I agree that We need to get back to the basics and play to our standards, but about this dominance thing. This district is known around the state for being great, their are 2 teams that have made that possible and they have made the state polls their 2nd home. Nationally, their are 2 teams that have received much recognition in the national polls throughout the years as well. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this has helped this district tremendously, all the district teams have benefited from that. Now that right there is "good for the district"

The number one threat to this district is digital addiction.

Now that right there is "good for the district" WF Coyote must have been mixed up baseball with football. The CCISD schools pretty much have held their own on a statewide level for several years minus Miller and Vets only because they are the new kid on the block. They have all done well in tourneys up state and unfortuantely because of the district set up, it's become dog eat dog. Carroll and Vets would of probably made the playoffs in other districts in either 4A and 5A this season along with Alice. GP and the Bluff had a down year, but had some decent years the past few.

Judging by the fans at the Moody King game, they have good support. May not be as many to travel to Kerrville on a week night but they should pack the stadium at Cabiniss.

I felt they should have pulled the starter a little sooner than they did. He had two balls hit hard the previous inning but luckily were right at our guys and he had one hit that inning and looked pretty wild on the walk just before the Hr. Cal was actually hitting the ball well and hard too it just seemed like they were right at the Ray players most of the time. But they did have 8 hits I believe. Just couldn't get it in the holes when it counted. But that's base ball. That's why any team can win on any given day. Hats off to Ray, but I think Cal will be just fine next year. There are a lot of returning starters who don't take it lightly and will bust their ass to right the ship. That being said, I'm ready for football season now lol

Just too inconsistent this year hitting wise and our fielding was below Calallen standards with too many errors and pass balls. Good luck to Ray and Moody to carry the torch for 30-5A to state. I think it might be safe to say he might of not been able to go for a start due to some underlying issue and only came in because we had to break the glass in case of an emergency. The common thing over the last several years is to rely on two arms for the balance of the district schedule and we we get to the playoffs, we find ourselves needing a third and even a forth arm to start and or relieve and they are not game ready for the most part. True we had one kid come off the bench and pitch for a win in the Mission Vets series, but that was the exception rather than the rule. It wouldn't hurt to use those third and forth arms for starts during the balance of the district schedule especially against the lower tier teams because game situation is so much more valuable than whatever you do in practice. Heck throw them in a key game as well because they will face the same pressure in the playoffs if they are needed. I've seen more than a few of our playoff opponents we've lost too the last few season incorporate that same strategy and take a hickey or two they might not of had to take if they pitched their ace. That's why when we played Georgetown a few years ago and lost to them in the forth round, their record of double digit loses was deceiving. Their third and forth arms didn't look like they had any reservations going out there because they were game ready. On the other subject regarding hitting and fielding and those areas being below Calallen standards I can only say next season like I noted the word needs to go out that all positions are open and if you are incoming Junior or below, don't automatically assume you have a slot or starting job waiting for you on varsity for one. In fact it might be time to go back to cuts to instill some since of work ethic back into the program and to do away with some of the thinking that what one did in whatever Select league or organized league off the high school diamond will give them a head start on the high school field. Yea, the fielding was not up to snuff at all and if I had to guess if records are kept in that area, we probably were close to tops in errors in program history. At least since in the mid 80's or so. I can't explain the issues at the plate other than we hit fast ball pitching better than off speed and pitchers who play the corners. That's been the standard for a few years now and shows up more in the playoffs for some strange reason.
