@aledoisd "AHS Bearcat Regiment STATE Bound!
Yesterday, the Aledo High School Bearcat Regiment earned the honors of competing at the UIL State Competition in San Antonio next week. With 25 other bands in contention, a total of 10 made the finals last night, and five of those bands are now state bound. Along with Aledo High School, other bands from this area include Centennial High School (Frisco), Wakeland High School (Frisco), Birdville High School (North Richland Hills), and Southwest High School (Fort Worth). Congratulations, Bearcat Regiment!!!"
Defending the title!

CONGRATS CEDAR PARK MARCHING BAND 2015 State Champions!! Post a video of their performance routine if you can please. I am not a big band guy but I see and hear the bands at the games and honestly the music is way too artsy fartsy for me. I get told, oh it has to be like that to get graded well by the judges. So I am curious if that is true.

Anyway, this year's program seemed to be a "Play on Opera Music"... using recognizable songs. I'll be honest that almost every song was recognizable and has probably been used within Warner Brothers Cartoons. That along with their Marching program that looked as intricate as what the Texas A&M Corpe band does. CP was moving in a chris-cross method.
I'll see if I can find it and post. I'm sure it has to be on YouTube... just need to see if they've posted it yet.

I couldn't find the CP Band's State Championship performance, but here is their performance that got them to the State Finals.
"What's Opera Doc"

Thank you very much. Very good music and marching and disproves that has to be weird music theory.

Thank you very much. Very good music and marching and disproves that has to be weird music theory. I will admit that the last couple of years CP's routine was more Artsy-Fartsy and that does seem to be the trend now-a-days. They got second place behind Vandegrift last time out. Anyway, it was refreshing to see this from the CP Band! IMO, it was a tong and check nod to the Artsy-Fartsy using Opera music but in a great way by using the music that most of us grew up with by watching WB cartoons! The Marching was indeed well executed!

He was interested and appreciative. He said his son had named the top ten before they were announced. Guess it's like football for us.
