In a dream world I would like to see no more than 500 difference in enrollments in a classification. but our State is much to large for that. The travel would be ridicules. I do agree with you once you break over the 1000 kid mark. As much as I'd like it to happen, it won't. To do the 64 team 'SUPER SIZE' district I'm sure the travel to play district games would be crazy.
hh, I count 67 schools with 3K+ as of last alignment 19 teams in R1 14 teams in R2 26 reams in R3 8 teams in R4
The problem would be pretty big on making the districts work out IMO and the travel involved to get district games played. Football is one thing, baseball, softball, basketball, and volleyball are an entirely bigger issue.

Clem, I ran into that problem myself, getting from 64 to 67 teams depending on which source I was looking at. And I personally agree that 60 something teams is too few for a stand alone classification in TEXAS. But I also believe a school with 5000+ students playing teams with less than 2500 is not equal talent wise. All of this was for fun and just to give us something to talk, argue and mess with until football season gets here.

As long as there are schools with 3000+ students (unless another 60 get that big) there will always be an uneven playing field in the largest classification. But the UIL COULD fix the rest of them. I think Dividing 6A and 5A into divisions makes the most sense. And it needs to be done NOW!

District realignment is coming up too. this would be a great opportunity to shake up the classifications a little bit more and make it more fair for everybody
