The Cleveland Indians should have never changed theirs, either. I could definitely see retiring the grinning mascot, but the name wasn't derogatory. The Cleveland Spiders were the first team to have a native on their team (2 in fact). Someone joked they should be called the Cleveland Indians and the team ran with it. Being proud of having natives play for them. How is that bad?

Prosper ISD is planning to open HS #5 in 2028. More noteworthy is the $95M stadium proposal to be built at Richland HS. With a track and capacity of 8000, this will provide a nice 2nd stadium and allow the district to host large track meets in style. x.com/Texas_HS_Sports/status/1704692176469295430?s=20

Seguin did that for $13 million! IMO, it’s better to go no-frills and increase the capacity and it will still come out less expensive.

Well HS #5 is being quoted at $508M, so not sure what’s going on there lol. Surely there couldn’t be too much infrastructure to build, as HS #4 should cover most of it. It does sound wasteful, especially compared to what Melissa just did.

They could build the same stuff in this area for an eighth of the cost.

Boerne ISD has been projecting HS #3 in the eastern part of the district, likely alongside Voss MS in Bergheim, for 2028-2030. The land to the south of Voss is already secured but I think they are still trying to close on another chunk that abuts FM 3351. Land purchase is already funded by Bond 2022, but construction will take a subsequent bond. Expansions at BHS and CHS are already underway and they will be built out at their current locations, so HS #3 will be needed if another 1000 or so kids 9-12 get added to the rolls.

MNHS opened at Johnson MS across the street, then transitioned over.

I think that proposal got denied by the citizens It did. Athletic facility propositions were rejected in several areas during this bond cycle. A bunch of those have had very luxurious press boxes that the average tax payer will never have access to. They are right to shoot those down, it’s high school football and publicly funded. But yea, even some practical stadiums and athletic bonds have failed still, more a sign of the economic times we are in, and post-Covid many more people have grown weary of elected officials coming to us with hands out. Gonna take some time to get that trust back.

Conroe ISD approved HS #7 to relieve Conroe and Caney Creek campuses, so I would assume it will be placed somewhere on the east side of Conroe. CHS is one of the biggest student bodies in the state with north of 5000 kids, so when this opens in 2027, it won’t affect any classification changes as all schools are well within 6A enrollment already. www.conroeisd.net/bond/

Has there been any word on Los Fresnos #2?
It's been rumored for years, but nothing so far.

Has there been any word on Los Fresnos #2? It's been rumored for years, but nothing so far. I didn't know anything about it. What I found out is that Los Fresnos United opened as a 9-10 campus with the goal of becoming a 2nd 9-12 high school when needed.
