I went to both games in Victoria Yesterday. Both were barnburners.
The first was Odem Vs Van Vleck. Odem was the more disciplined team. Not as many penalties. The Leopards must have jumped offside on defense 10 times. And the didn't have an answer for the Owls passing attack. Odem did a nice job of keeping VV #4 in Check the second half. He was very fast and elusive and was the one player that gave Odem trouble. Odem gave up that late TD and had to score one of their own with less than 2 min on the clock to win the game. Kickoff return out to midfield helped. A couple passes to wide open receivers for first downs then runoff as much clock as possible before scoring to take the 40-36 lead. The Owl D stepped up and didn't allow the explosive Leopard offense to Win. It was a great game. Glad I was there.
In the Cuero Game the Story IMO was the Bulldog Defense not allowing 20 to get free for long TD's. He got yards and had some good runs but wasn't allowed to run free. Cuero wasn't completing any passes in the first half either. Yoakum used long clock eating drives against the stingy Gobbler defense to move the ball. Yoakums three lost fumbles kept the bulldogs from putting the game away. Two of those were inside the five with Yoakum looking to score. Final Yoakum 43 Cuero 34.
