Eye-popping Schedule Awaits Aledo Freshmen and Junior Varsity Football Teams
By Steve Keck- Aledo Sports Daily
Two years of scheduling frustration for Aledo’s Freshmen and Junior Varsity teams has been eradicated by Athletic Director Tim Buchanan.
Beginning on Thursday, August 28, both JV teams will be at home in Bearcat Stadium to face powerhouse 6A program Southlake Carroll Dragons. Both Freshmen teams travel to Carroll.
On September 4, both JV teams play powerhouse 6A program Allen Eagles in Bearcat Stadium. Both Freshmen teams travel to Allen.
On Thursday September 11, both JV teams play at 6A LD Bell Raiders. The Freshman team will play the feeder school for LD Bell, Central Junior High. Bell and Central are in the HEB school district. It is unusual for a junior high to have ninth grade but that is the case with Central. The Freshmen game is away at Central.
Both squads get a week off on September 18 before starting the District 8-5A schedule. It looks like every school in district has both an “A” and “B” team for the Freshmen. We will have to see if they are able to field enough players to have two teams.
On the Junior Varsity side, Aledo Black has three holes in their schedule due to Joshua, Everman, and Granbury not having two JV teams. This is still an improvement from last year with almost every team not having a second JV team. Aledo had to combine the two JV teams several times last year.

Aledo Freshmen Black 22-12 Win at Southlake Carroll Freshmen Orange 33-28 Loss to Southlake Carroll Aledo JV Orange 31-28 win over Carroll Aledo JV Black 13-12 win over Carroll Freshmen Orange tie Allen Eagles 21-21 Aledo Freshman Black lose 34-14 Aledo JV's didn't have a score on the Aledo sports daily website so I'm not sure.
They did say this though, "Allen, TX—Let’s put this in perspective for Aledo Bearcat fans. The Aledo freshmen teams took the long road to Allen, Texas last Thursday night. Allen High School has an enrollment of 5,388 students. Aledo has an enrollment of 1,542. Allen is over three times larger than Aledo and more than two times larger than Southlake Carroll (2,888) who played Aledo last week.
As you can imagine, the sheer number of Allen Eagles participating in football is remarkably more than Aledo. The Eagles have more than 180 freshmen football players spread over three teams. Aledo has just over 50 players playing on two teams. "

Wow Great performance by Aledo's younguns for sure!
We are 6a but not by much (2200 or so) My kid's JV A team played O'Conner last night and they are well over 3K kids. They had 80+ on their JV A while we had 30 suited (5 dinged up in street clothes). They were much, MUCH bigger than us up front yet we still dominated them start to finish. I think they had 3 first downs and maybe 35 yards of total offense. 47-0 win.
Next week we will travel on Wednesday all the way to Waco to meet DeSoto U JV. I told my son he better put on his big boy pants for that one! LMAO I think if we had our 10 stud Sophomores that are on Varsity, we'd give em all they wanted and more. But, I think they may have more than we can stand without those kids.

Yeah its kinda hard to tell sometimes because kids get pulled up but it should be a really tough game for both of yall. When I was a Sophomore we played SLC and were out numbered 3 to 1 and they wore us out! Too many fresh kids they would rotate in. Talk about depth lol.

When you have that many kids in a school/program, it makes your depth so much better. Even if the smaller school is equal talent wise 1s vs 1s, when players get injured or you sub in 2s for any other reason, you lose ground to the bigger school. Or, if they simply have two kids at one position that are equally talented, they can sub them the entire game and simply wear the smaller team down. Damn big bullies! I know he and his teamates are looking forward to the challenge and I'm looking forward to watching it and rooting them on. Have a good one.

Good luck to ya AA, we went up to Waco last night and our JV boys played their butts off against a MUCH bigger team. We came up short 22-14. We basically gave the ball game away with 3 TOs and several penalties that stopped a couple of our drives and kept a couple of their's alive. We basically killed ourselves last night but hats off to the DeSoto kids to capitalize on the mistakes and take advantage. Our freshman team beat them 28-14 also in Waco. By the way, the DS fans were pretty talkative before the game started but got very quiet after we'd played about a quarter and our D was taking it to them in a big way. They did pop a 4th & 2 from our 31 for a TD run late in the game but before that we totally shut their run down. I can't imagine they had over 50 yards rushing the entire game on about 20-25 carries. When we were leaving one of the DS fans flat came out and said "we were lucky tonight to have won". A pretty nice compliment I thought considering the trash talk before the game. I guess even in a loss our kids gained a little respect. Hope our varsity comes out tonight and opens up the playbook on them and shocks them a little with what we can do. One fan asked me last night in the third qtr if all we did was run up the middle. I said apparently that is our game plan for tonight but stay tuned for tomorrow. LOL
