Oil has resurfaced in some places along the Intracoastal Waterway and the Coast Guard is looking for mariners traversing the area to please report any sheening or oil. Sector Corpus Christi has a safety zone that has limited some traffic through Matagorda Bay, however the ICW is still open.

Judge orders seizure of vessel in oil spill A federal judge on Friday ordered the seizure of the bulk carrier Summer Wind, one of the two vessels that collided in the Houston Ship Channel and spilled nearly 170,000 gallons of oil. The order by U.S. Magistrate Judge John R. Froeschner, of Galveston, came in response to a class action lawsuit filed against the owners of the two vessels: the Summer Wind and a tow boat, the Miss Susan. I've got a couple of boats and barges working for the spill contractor in Port O'Connor. It seems that the response was too slow to close off the oil from exiting the Galveston Bay and into the Gulf of Mexico.
