I am hearing that coach Smith, formerly of Tivy, has resigned his HC position at Judson for the Madison job.
Wow!

I didn't understand why he left Tivy for Judson. And I don't understand why he'd leave Judson for Madison.. Can someone explain this to me? Please?!?!?! hh, I think Smith actually was a position coach at Judson some years ago as well as at a couple other schools locally. One of my employees played for him at Seguin and said he is by far the best coach he'd ever played for. I think Smith is no different than most coaches and that their ultimate goal is winning a title. Judson has won 6 - 5a state titles and is a very high profile job and I'd imagine 90%+ of the coaches in this state would have taken that job if offered. No, Judson is not the same as it was in the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s but they are still very, very talented. Keep in mind they won 5a D1 in 2002 and played in two more title games since losing pretty damn close games. Now, what I've heard is that Judson has some very serious problems with their admin and it has been that way for a few years. I'm guessing Smith might not have realized that or perhaps thought he could overcome any issues he'd come across but apparently this is not the case. I've heard he is not being allowed to run the program the way he wants to. Keep in mind this is just what I've heard but it comes from pretty good sources. Either way, I feel very bad for the Judson kids and after talking to two kids last night at the fresh/JV track meet at Judson, I feel worse. They were heart broken with the fact that he is apparently on the way out. Why Madison? I'd say because Madison is another area team that is known to be typically really deep in great athletes. They are one of the larger schools in R4 and usually put 2-5 kids in FBS schools yearly. I'd say he probably sees the opportunity he felt was at Judson 2 years ago.

From what I have heard is that he was upset with the admin. at Judson. Smith applied at Dripping Springs and Belton before getting the Madison job. From what I know his ultimate goal is to get back to the Austin area that is where he is from and still has family there.

That Dripping Springs job might be a pretty good gig. Lots of cash floating around in that area to back the program and pretty close to the same type of structure as LT and WL.
I do feel bad for the Judson kids as I know they had bought into his system 100% and really like him there.
