Tanner Perales #8, senior to be, two way starter WR/DB, a leader who had a great off-season, regional's in 3 events in track. Hard worker, polite, good grades, great all around kid. Works at lumber yard full time delivering plywood and sheet rock all day and then comes to summer workouts.
Been playing some great 7 on 7, future looked so bright for this young man until Wednesday June 29th about 6:30 pm, him and a couple of friends went to Lake Limestone to cool off at boat dock, no foul play but just boys horse playing pushing each other in water. Fell in awkward and crushed his skull on something under the shallow water and is paralyzed from chest down.
The other boys did a super job of getting him to safety and stabilizing him and calling for help. A severed spinal cord, crushed and shattered vertebrae, hours upon hours of surgeries at Scott and White in Temple who are giving him and the family great care.
Got feeling in one hand and down to the elbow in other. Able to breathe a little on his own without trach tube, but found fluid on lungs today and started antibiotics and deep suctioning. May have to go to a special bed that will turn him. Keeping him heavily sedated so he will not fight it because he is one tough warrior.
The town has really come together, mass amount of prayers and phone calls, #8 t-shirts everywhere, an auction on July 23rd to raise money for family. This is a sad situation but if anybody can work through it Tanner Perales can.
We will hear about Tanner in the future because he is just that kind of person, I dont know what that may hold but he is that strong willed. Watch out for whoever he decides to place #8 jersey on, because he will have to play for two people. Tell your kids you love them and play every play like it is your last!!
