The record-breaker came on a Jess Anders touchdown in the first quarter. According to the team schedule on MaxPreps they began the day with 887 points and Monday's contest is their 14th of the season. Albemarle set the record in 16 contests. With a win Monday, the team could have two more contests to pile on to the record. Aledo also surpassed the 2011 Refugio (Texas) team at 891. Records cited are from the NFHS Record Book.

The record-breaker came on a Jess Anders touchdown in the first quarter. According to the team schedule on MaxPreps they began Dec. 9 with 887 points. They will go down in history with their 1,023 points in 16 games, which culminated with a 38-10 triumph over Brenham in the UIL 4A-Division II final at AT&T Stadium in Dallas. Albemarle also needed 16 contests to set the record in 2001. Records cited are from the NFHS Record Book. The record for scoring in a season in 8-man football also fell in November when Lowell (Ore.) finished with 946 in 13 games.
