Late Shout out to the Cedar Park Middle school football teams.
8th Grade Black took LISD District championship with only one loss. They took district last year as undefeated 7th grade.
8th Grade White are undefeated LISD District champions. They took district last year as undefeated 7th grade. Undefeated back to back.
7th Grade Black are LISD Champions.
I do not have info on the 7th grade B & C teams.
I wish they allowed districts to play each other in football for playoffs. It would provide some really good games.

Congrats to these kids. CP looks to be in great shape for the coming years. Cool video for sure. Yep, they are very disciplined in their approach to running the same schemes as the High School. In fact, The Middle School coaches meet regularly with the CPHS coaches. Additionally the youth football program runs the same offense and defensive schemes as well! With 70 Freshman out for Football last year and the crop of Middle School kids coming in the next two years... I also see great things for the TWolves! It also depends on if we can hold on to Coach Joe Willis that long. He's a great coach/teacher and builder of great young men! Our participation numbers are through the roof! CPHS is getting over a 30% participation rate for football! One thing that also helps a team is having the participation numbers as well and quality of players who cut their teeth on the practice squad. That along with a good Non-District schedule will strengthen your team. But to me it's that practice squad that goes up against your 1st team day in and day out that will make your 1st team the best it can be!

No doubt all of these things have a HUGE impact on the program. I think it is very, very important for the head coach to have his hands on the middle school program and for them to be teaching these youngsters the plays from the get go. I know we do the same and by the time our kids are freshman they litterally know 80%+ of the offensive plays and defensive calls they'll need to know at the varsity level. Our kids are taught the same terminology from day 1. IMO, this is huge and most successful programs that are in the hunt year after year are run this way. Our kids in middle school even follow the same basic workouts as our HS off-season albeit a bit lighter. We have one freshman that just benched 300 last week and two others that did 295 and 290. Keep in mind these are not some abnormally giant kids I am talking about. The one who did 300 is about 5'11" 200, the other two are 6'0" 215 & 240. We now have WELL over 20 freshman benching over 200 and probably 15 doing 225 or more. I believe bringing the high school's program and coaches down to the 7th & 8th grade level have ton to do with this success in developing players.
