dtrain, not sure on that WL pick...Steele has some players that could very well shake them up. Steele has been a magnet for talent (some stellar, some better than most) and when you field that mixture on one team the end result usually leaves other teams wondering what happened. Steele is the product of a system that expects to win moreso than other programs. Believe that if you're on that field Friday for Steele, you better produce.

Westlake will lose to a 4A school they beat last year, despite Severt tossing an INT the first play of the game that put CP at the GL. The score was 21-7 or so? WL beat some pretty good 5A schools that CP likely could not have. I will go with the better QB and HC and pick CP on this 4A board and Westlake on 5A Texas. CP is 14 times better than that opening game last year. That was the first game ever at QB for Nate Grimm a reciver turned QB. Now-a-days you'd think he has played it his entire life. Also our stud FB was out injured and was out until the TIVY game where he cut his teeth at LB before fully returning for the Alice game. Anwyway, I think Clemensbuff has it right that it will be a NASTY game of "D" but with some glimmers of "O" now and then. Final? 21 - 17 with CP taking its revenge!

So you are picking cP here but WL on the 5a board??? WTH is that about? I don't quite get your reasoning on this one. I honestly think this game is a tossup and anyones to win. Both teams will get after your a** on D, both have size up front, and both have pretty good speed. It will likely come down to who makes the fewest mistakes and what team can win the battle at the LOS.

It's called pandering... like the politician who's a Cowboys fan when in Dallas and a Texans fan when in Houston!

Gupton Stadium holds just over 10K (5K each side). Westlake follows their team well (or at least locally) and being that it is the first game for both teams, I'll bet we'll get 8K easy and maybe close to 9K to see this game! Fox Sports SW is scheduled to be there so I'll bet there will be some highlights shown later that night!

This Westlake team is not a machine on offense like the Schroeder teams, they are big and beat folks with execution and defense, but they are not a point eating machine like some of the Ron Schroeder teams of the 90s to 2000s.

I think CP would have beat C-Hill, because their defense normally doesn't give up big plays and they would have still been able to run the ball on C-Hill like Guyer. CP is built on defense and Guyer is a running team that plays OK defense and let G-town jump to the big lead in the title game last year. Pretty hard to get 31, much less 38 on CP.

Could see a Cedar Park vs. Denton Guyer 4A D1 State Championship if Rouse or Leander miss the playoffs. Most would like to see that head-to-head battle for the 4A State Championship.

CP vs CHill scoring estimates Really? CP vs Guyer maybe down the road, but to me, this is NO Time to think about that... Gotta Focus on Westlake!
