It is always good to see the start of football and begin to hit someone else. During this time, competition is fierce for starting positions, as is the case for starting QB at Boerne Champion. As I watched the game today, I came away impressed with the play making ability of sophomore QB Josh Green. In particular three runs of over 30 yards, including touchdowns of 50 and 60 yards. If Champion wants a QB who is a threat every time he touches the ball, Green is their guy.

bsvchs16, is this a 'rebuilding' type year for Champion or do they return a lot of starters?? I'm kind of surprised that Champion's offense struggled this much against EP's D. I know it is just a scrimmage and don't mean squat, but figured they'd have found the endzone at least a time or two.

I feel the article is very misleading. EP couldn't move the ball and I would guess Champion had 6-7 sacks. Champion didnt move the ball that well but there were several passes that were dropped. When the controlled scrimmage took place it wasn't #1's v #1's. As for this year, yes, it's a rebuilding year. There's a new coach and a new system. There are only 3 returning starters on offense. The offense is full of JRs and Sophomores. The defense is talented and more experienced. It will be a fun year...but most at Champion are really looking forward to 2014 and 2015

Looks like Champion will have some 'growing pains' this year with all the younguns coming in on offense. Hopefully the D will step up early and give the offense a chance to mature.
