I think you have to be very careful comparing 25-4A JV programs to 30-4A JV programs. We all know 25-4A is on a different level than most other districts. There are a lot of factors that contribute to JV success.
As i said before, I've seen programs where the first three years is spent learning the system that is rather complex. The coaches are insistent that they run this system and in 9th and 10th grade they are trying to learn a complex scheme so later they can win as a senior if they can pick it up. They are in these schemes and do not play instinctively until they are comfortable within the scheme.
Mean while, they are playing teams with less complex schemes and the kids are already reacting instinctively as 9th and 10th graders.
Now as seniors does the more complex scheme beat the less complex scheme, i don't know, that is dependant on talent level etc. it's just a different style and method of coaching. Not saying it's right or wrong. Not even saying this is the case. I've seen this type of thing in other areas of the state.
So to say JV success is essential would be dependant on the schemes beig taught. In port lavaca, i would say JV success is essential, as the scheme is not as complex, and learning to win is important. I can tell you that about a third of the teams Plc plays know before the game that they are going to lose, and that is becuase of the JV success we have had.
There are so many variables that go into this question that it is not a simple answer, a right answer, or a wrong answer. It all depends on the program, the scheme, and the competition.

And that is my point about Alice's sub varsity success being a good indicator of what to expect when they move up to varsity... because its the same schemes. The sub varsity teams all run the same slot-t and defense as the varsity. Continuity. A team like GP could be successful in JV then be horrible the next year in varsity because they arent running the same schemes. They have a varsity running the spread but sub varsity teams running the wing-t. So you don't have the greatest idea of what to expect when those jv kids move up.

Oh, so teams that rum similar offenses like LT and C.P.'s sub varsity success doesn't count. Nope they don't. Hey everyone Alice is JV state champs! You are still dodging the question I asked you about the J.V. defense that Alice hung 50 on last year.

J.V. defense. Surly they will be playing a factor in this years varsity program.

OK, what do you want to hear to make you happy? Our JV sucked last year...there, you happy? Again, what does that have to do with this year's varsity team? I've never heard of a JV team making the playoffs or winning a state championship. So, your JV team last season is the best JV team ever! Congrats! New season, new team. It's time to play varsity football in 2013, and not relive last years JV season.

Our JV sucked last year... And there lies the problem when you have to replace your starters from last year.

To you it's a problem, to our coaches & fans, it's not. So, what's your point?

To you it's a problem, to our coaches & fans, it's not. So, what's your point? Why would it be a problem for Alice, or any other team? IT IS G.P.'s PROBLEM!

Again, our players, coaches, & fans don't consider it a problem if our JV team wasn't very good last season. What part of that don't you understand? The only person saying it's a problem is YOU! How many times are you going to keep bringing it up? Get over it!
