29 days and counting until Thursday night games. 30 days until Flour Bluff's first game at Buc Stadium versus CC King! Should be a slobber knocker. Can't wait to get it going again. It's getting close my friend! I made the most of my last weekend with #14 at the ranch making him work some wild cows. It does a lot for your agility! We had one mean mama cow do a 180 and thank God she chose to go after #14 and not me! My cat-like reflexes have faded over the years. I'm proud of him and can't wait for this senior season. He has thinned down to 190 and looks better than ever. Beauregard had surgery and will be out the first few games....nothing serious, but something that needed to be done. Can't wait to see the animal that Mason Carrel has become and all D1 attention that Hynson is getting. There will be tons of talent across the board on this team but it's up to the coaches to find the right combo. I think the D will be very strong and the O productive, but not quite as exciting as the Mims era. Mims heads to MHB next Wednesday. I'm sure I'll catch a game or two this year so we can road trip it if you want.

Yeah, I don't expect to see all the juking and field reversals we have been seeing the last few years but effective runs and passes will be just fine with me. The talent is there on the ground and through the air. Mims would sometimes reverse and give up 10 yards or more only to pop out on the other side headed down field but you usually can't count on that. I am looking for the D to be a big weapon and a point producer this year. Kick offs and punt returns should be really fun to watch.

I'd like to get in on that as well and go watch Mims in action at MHB. I agree that the FB Defense is the real weapon this year. That is a winning combination to have a potent D and a productive O. That's CP's success.

Another rumor has a out of shape RB going there too?

If the RB wasn't willing to put in the off season work.......well, good luck and good bye.

Hot off the presses of todays award winning Caller Times:
CORPUS CHRISTI — With a new quarterback breaking into the backfield for the Flour Bluff Hornets, conventional wisdom says the team will have to lean on its running backs to help carry the load.
Stalwarts Charles Gaines, Tommy Martin and Grayson Beauregard return from last season, but coach Darrel Andrus says he expects Kevin Dewitt, who emerged from the back of the pack to punch in a couple 100-yard performances in the final months of 2012, to take the biggest strides.
“Kevin’s about 6 foot, 1 inch, 180 pounds,” Andrus said. “(He’s) a running back who clocked 4.45 (in the 40-meter). If he gets a crease, he has the ability to go, but he has a bit of power too. He has a chance to be a complete running back.”
Despite an embarrassment of riches at the position — everyone but senior Beauregard is entering their junior years — Andrus said he thinks there will be enough touches to go around for all four to get their fill.
What he really wants, though, is a guy to emerge who plays so well in the first three quarters that Andrus can’t take him out in the fourth, and he thinks Dewitt has the potential to be that man.

This should be interesting to see....kinda like the year after losing Bonette only we don't have super sophomore like Mims in the mix.

Well, we already know what #14 can do, Brewer throws a really nice ball and lopes like Vaughn did at Calallen or Vince Young at UT, Morgan is really slick with his ball handling and Solerik (SP) makes four. I don't see the problem. :-)

Solarek and #14 can both start on D and play QB in certain situations but be available if needed more than that. We need some CB's on D.

Andrus played Brewer a lot in the Spring game and rotated Solarek and Morgan on the other team. OCCNH and I were both pretty impressed with Brewer. I still say good things happen when #14 touches the ball.

He has the height of the prototypical college pocket passer, but not sure if he has added some beef since last season. I have a feeling he will be a great one once he does. I just don't want to get him hurt while he is still young.

The blood, sweat, and tears started bright and early this morning. I've heard reports of a few kids moving into the district so I'll get them validated this afternoon. We made some good bone-in ribeyes last night to celebrate the beginning of football, both high school and college and the next chapter for some really good kids. Mims heads off to MHB tonight and we take my daughter to Texas State on Friday. Gembol left earlier in the week...gonna be hard not seeing those kids at my house regularly.
Initial reports are we are loaded with talent and have more depth than ever...tbc...

Heard they wanted to move him to the line? Hear anything about a Carroll kid coming to the Bluff?

Watching the Spring game the cup runeth over. :-) Should be a really fun year.
