They had a good offense in year one under Dodge, but he knows he needs a great defense to win big in the state's best 4A district, so he hired the Leander DC, Salazar. MF has big time back that should do some damage if he stays healthy.

Hard to replace that record-setting QB from last year. MF needs a Defense.

That's some good info Dwayne. So do you think that Marble Falls will be in the playoff hunt this year?

But, until they can, they will not make a deep run. Offense is great, D wins championships. What's the scoop on teh RB? Soph, Jr, Sr?? Size & speed? Any stats on him from last year or was he JV? Transfer or home grown?

The qb broke a single game passing record. Stats were not near that impressive the rest of the time. His replacement this fall is an incoming Soph. The RB is a returning letterman. Will be a Sr this fall. They have Texas wr commit Garrett Gray returning.

All but one skill position back. Improved defensive scheme and personnel. Soph QB going to be very good. MF should be competitive and challenge for playoff spot.

Is MF you team? Sounds like MF has the makings to start turning it up a few notches. No doubt Dodge knows how to get it done. If the kids put 110% into it, they can become very good in a very short time IMO.

Thanks for the welcome. I do call MF home and with the edition of Coach Salazar, the pieces are beginning to come together. Still a tough road in 25 4a.

Welcome to the board bjp81757. Without a doubt the toughest district in the state in 4a, it always tough because we get that district in the 2nd round of the playoffs. We have lost to LT twice and CP last year. Even the years we dont play LT or CP its always tough. Good luck to Marble Falls.

But, that is a blessing because it'll only make you a better team competing against the best. When you make it out of a district like that you are battle tested and playoff ready..........to the point of making a run at the title. I would love it if our team gets moved out of the district we are in and back in to a tougher 5a district in SA area this next go round!

I just don't see Leander being as good as all the magazines think they are

They have a new HC and DC/OC, but they will still run the zone read offense, but do not know how their defense and passing game will be effected. Leander coaches have adjusted to offensive talent, so if they could throw they threw, if they could run they ran... Coach Bridges has NEVER been known for passing the ball, so Lions fans better hope they have a good defensive coordinator. They ran the 30 stack, which is odd since most teams run a nickel, 3-4 or 4-3.

It will be interesting to see what the marble falls DC which came from Leander will be able to do with the cards he has been given. You can put boots in the oven but that don't make them biscuits! I am excited about the new young qb. I hope he has protection up front

That defense is exciting to play because they attack the LOS and force the offense to adjust to them. I saw Gideon play FS in this scheme and he was making all the tackles vs. Judson. It is an 8 man front, like the 40, but with a 3 man line, so you mainly have LB/DB types with speed and aggression ass opposed to size. They fill gaps and penetrate to make plays. The MF kids will like this scheme. The kids that can run, hit and tackle will make this defense go.
