I got involved with Cowboy Action Shooting. Its a ton of fun! They also have a dedicated forum for shooters. Some of them argue more than me an ole Boogaire used to!

Good stuff GPJ. And yes, I do believe the forum arguing is certainly not limited to football! LMAO
That cowboy action shooting can get a little pricey I'd imagine! Heck, not just with the firearms but now with absolutely ridiculous cost of ammo.
Hell, if I'd have known it was going to do what it did I'd have purchased about 1000 bricks of .22 shells and sold it now and paid off everything I owe. My uncle has a table at the gun shows and told me not too long ago that 500 rounds of .22 was going for upwards of $200!!! HOLY CRAPOLIES

Speaking of Boogaire... Where has the green thing been lately? Him and the left handed Aggie?

I've got about 5K in my cowboy guns. usually shoot at least once a month, did a strtch this spring where I shot 6 times in 8 weeks, a lot of fun!
Ammo is high. and hard, but not impossible to find. I dont reload, but have frineds who do, and one of them is doing some loading for me.
It aint cheap, but its cheaper than a boat or a motorcycle. and heck, I think I use fewer bullets than golfballs........

I shoot Ruger Bisley Vaquero revolvers, a Winchester 1866 repro rifle made by Uberti, all in 357/38 sp, and a Stoeger SxS 12g shotgun. Usually shoot 6 stages in a match, typically 10 rifle, 10 revolver, ad 4 shotgun per stage. Shoot steel targets (bang and clang!) in a certain order, while being timed. Misses add 5 seconds, shooting out of order is a proceedural penalty of 10 seconds. Safety rule violations range from 10 seconds up to match disqualification. Targets are big and close, but can definity be missed. The top shooters can shoot a simple stage in 13-15 seconds. I ain't near that fast! The top shooters can shoot a single action revolver and lever rifle faster than most can shoot a semi-auto! It's a lot of fun. You can learn more at www.sassnet.com. Single action shooting society. Our local club shoots second Saturday near George West. Come on out and check it out. I won't be there June 8, but I'll be there for July match. If you ( or anybody) is interested I would be more than happy to set you up to shoot a stage after the match, then you will be hooked! Way more fun than golf!
