After initially accepting the job offer as athletic director and head football coach at Skidmore-Tynan, Alice football defensive coordinator and head track coach Stephen Silva has decided to instead stay with the Coyotes. “I actually showed up at Skidmore for a couple days and actually started getting into the work that needed to be done. Through that, home, and talking with my family, it just didn’t seem like the right decision,” Silva said. “Just through discussion with them, I just decided that I’d probably be better off just staying in Alice.” His family was the biggest factor in his decision to stay, Silva said. Now he will continue his work with his Coyote family. “It’s the best job I’ve had so far in my career,” he said. “I’m just excited to be working with the kids who already know the expectations that I have for them. We’re going to keep doing what we’ve been doing and keep working hard to succeed in the fall.” While he turned down the S-T job, Silva has not ruled out becoming an athletic director or head coach in the future. “(It’s) definitely something I think I’d like to do,” he said. “I may research the next situation that comes up a little bit deeper before I jump into it. I think I jumped into this just out of being anxious because it was the first time anybody’s ever actually offered me a job. I may research it a little bit more next time I get an offer, but definitely something I’d like to do when the situation’s right.

HE knows what kind of Defense he will have next year and the year after!!! Plus the overall team.. You dont turn down a gig like that for a program that will remain average or go down hill....

Where (what site/cite) is Carl making these picks? I know Calallen usually starts out slow and improve as the season goes on, and that is a sign of good coaching. I think this year, with all the returning starters they have, are going to light it up early. The PLC vs. Calallen will certainly be a good one.
