Speculating is over. It's official: Beeville Hires Sealy's Jimmie Mitchell as New Head Football Coach / ADwww.kristv.com/news/beeville-hires-sealy-s-jimmie-mitchell-as-new-head-football-coach-ad/BEEVILLE - As of Noon on Thursday the Beeville ISD board will approve the hiring of Jimmie Mitchell as their new Head Football Coach and Athletic Director. Mitchell, electing to leave Sealy High School to replace Troy Moses in Trojan Country. I confirmed this hiring on Wednesday, we are the first to report it. This past season the Trojans finished up just 3-7. You may recognize his name, as he does have past ties to the Coastal Bend. He was the Head Coach in Sinton from 2002 - 2007 compiling a record of 43-17. Mitchell has won 48 games in six seasons at Sealy. This past season he finished up 6-4, while coaching one of the top receivers in the country in Ricky Seals-Jones, who signed to play football at Texas A&M.

Congrats to beeville, hope they get things turned around. Sounds like he needed a change and beeville needed a coach, a marriage made in football heaven.

Of course we all know townspeople and 16-17 year olds know more football than the coach. Jimmie Mitchell is a great motivator and very solid on his knowledge of football. They are correct on one thing for sure, he is a great DC. District 30 4-A just got a lot stronger.

"Townspeople" who have been watching football coached by the very best for many years often know a hell of a lot more than arrogant HS coaches give them credit for and they would do well to listen and learn.

Beeville's defense improved last year with the return of Coach Black. It probably didn't seem like it, but you have to understand how truly awful the offense was to appreciate what was tasked to the defense. I hope he is able to stay on the staff.
