I wonder how many people would vote yes if the ballot read, "Bond for Field Turf (and a bunch of other stuff that we won't get into here.)"

I think FBISD did a great job in the brochure and pdf file listing exactly what the money was to be used for and that helped to get it passed.

I wonder how many people would vote yes if the ballot read, "Bond for Field Turf (and a bunch of other stuff that we won't get into here.)" Austin ISD had a $830 million bond for which the athletic facitlity improvement portion didn't pass. It was broken into four sections and two didn't pass.

Kerrville had a bond on our stadium for 6.2million with an additional 2.2million from the school district. Luckily it passed but it was a close vote. It is much needed as our stadium is very old but mainly it will be for parking lots, bathrooms, handicap seating on the home and visitor sides. And they are adding on to the fieldhouse to build girls locker rooms, bathrooms, showers and expanding the weight room.

Was intended as a joke. I've never seen a bond proposal that didn't outline everything in detail. Hearing Judson ISD passed a bond for a third high school.

The sad part is that the field turf makes sense in the long run albeit a big, upfront investment is tough to swallow. Sounds like FB will have some very, very nice facilities when the work is completed. Congrats to the Hornets.

As much as I love the small town atomosphere at Tivy's home field, some additional seating is needed on both sides of the field. Are you guys getting Turf Grass??

Yes it is Clemensbuff, its something that has been much needed. Not sure about seating but theyare putting in new restrooms on visitor and home sides. They are putting in handicap seating on both sides as well. They are expanding the parking lots and repaving them. We have had grass turf for a long time but they are relaying it again this summer. They wanted to do more but it is was very hard to pass the bond for just this stuff. They said it should take about 18 months to complete all the projects. They will lay the turf in june and begin on the stadium in july sometime.

As much as I understand why coaches like turf, as a fan I've always liked natural grass fields. Of course, back in Tennessee there was basically no such thing as an artificial turf field! Up here the only school I can think of that still plays on grass is Pilot Point. Frisco schools play on grass when they use FC Dallas.
