Nixon had a good run last year from the 4A schools. Won some in Laredo and then the River City in San Antonio. I dont know what 7 on 7 they're going to now but River City and Valley are the SQTs our teams always go to. Good time to see where Derek Ezparza is at for United. Anticipating year for him.

I went and watched the lake Travis qualifier. Mostly 5A teams. Elgin looks good as does Hendrickson. The Marble Falls team looks better than last year. Their young qb is legit Never draw too many conclusions from 7-on-7. Denton Guyer didn't make it out of the qualifying tournament in 7-on-7 last year and we know how that turned out. It's a whole different ballgame when there's no contact and no pass rush for the offense to deal with. I am well aware and I know the difference.....trust me it still doesnt change my observation in my statement above

(Though I'd probably agree with you on Elgin based on what I've heard.)

7 on 7 is more of a drill / sandlot, than actual football.. ok smite me I'd say it's more or less comparable to 3-on-3 halfcourt basketball. Football without blocking/tackling = basketball without the transition game.

IMO, its probably better work for DBs than QBs and recievers. lets DBs practice "reading" recievers, BBs, and the ball.

Who is coaching GP 7 on 7? Same guy as last year--Miller Navarro. The team is 3-1 so far in the Sinton 7 on 7 league with wins over T-M, AP, R-F and a loss to Odem.

Seems there are a lot of kids from the freshman team who will be upcoming sophomores. I bet around 2/3rds of the 20 kids weren't playing on varsity last year. Tanner Geiser, Gilbert DeLeon, Marco Navarro, Tristan McCormick, Connor Roggeman, & Steven Starcher are the only ones I recognize as returning letterman.
