Thought I would throw a Congrats out to the Crab Basketball team. They are more times than not overshadowed by the Football Program but they are having a good showing this year.
After winning district, they defeated SA Kennedy in the Bi-District Round 70-64. They won the Area Round against CC Ray 71-67. Then they took the Regional Quarterfinal game against Roma 57-43.
They will play the #1 SA Brennan team tomorrow night in SA.
Again, congrats to Coach Anderson, who is in his 1st year as HC, and all the Sandcrabs and good luck tomorrow night.
6:00 pm at SA Blossom Complex for any who will be up that way.

I went to the game and I have to say that SA Brennan had some studs out there. They were definitely the more basketball gifted team on the court, but the Crabs hung tough and fell short.
I have to say that I am not in favor of predetermined sites for basketball games. Football makes since as there will be large crowds. Crabs are home team but we travel 2.5 hours. Brennan had the home court advantage as the AH fans that were also home were sitting amongst Crab fans and cheering for Brennan. Not that the outcome would have been different, but 2of the 3 refs called 0 fouls on Brennan. 1 of them didn't give us 1 OOB call. Cardona takes 2 shoulders in the mid section and he gets 2 fouls out of the deal. It was really pathetic attempt of fairness by not only the refs, but the UIL for pretty much making a "neutral site" home field advantage for any team in SA. At least assign "neutral" refs to the game. And back to the AH fans, you guys are some of the rudest fans I've been around. Our game is starting and 6-7 ladies wearing blue and gold decided they wanted to have a class reunion in the aisles of the arena. After asking them politely to excuse themselves, we had to move(announcer finally made an announcement in 3rd quarter that those standing in the aisles needed to find a seat. We sat in front of a couple of older AH fans and 2 rows in front of 2 teenagers. One of the teenagers decided he would reach as far as he could and give me a kick in the back. I ignore it until the 3 rd period. After all the snickering and laughing and saying do it harder from his friend, the kid decides to kick my wife hard enough to knock her phone out of her lap. If he wouldn't have been under age, one of us would have been carried out of there. I can deal with the young punks, but we Crabs in the area also had to put up with the, "where's the Varsity team"; "these kids don't deserve to be playing in this game". And I got a tap on the shoulder and a "I would be embarrassed to be in the stands if I were you". Very classy indeed AH. And then at 6:00 to go in our game, AH fans start pouring in and Looking for seats as the game is going. UIL needs to rethink how they do things. I thought SA would be a good place to have football championship games, I'm thinking not. Especially if AH fans will there.

Just found this on twitter, Vic Advocate Sports writter just posted this.
"Alamo Heights is beating Laredo Nixon by 24 points and the Mules student section is yelling "We Can't Hear You." I'm not a fan of that. Can't call anyone classless, but if I could, this would be the time for it."

When Calallen played Alamo Heights in the football playoffs three seasons ago at their house, we got the similar treatment. Rude treatment at the gate, etc. We left their stadium with a victory so it all evened out at the end of the day. You have to understand that's where a lot of money /old money types at that and society people live in San Antonio, so it's kind of in the DNA if you will.
