OK fellas, this is the big one. We thought we'd meet em last year in the semis and they didn't hold up their end of the bargain. It is finally here. Vote in the poll and please add your thoughts on what you think will happen Saturday in RGIII's house!
I can tell you that as soon as our game was over Saturday coach was asked by the news what he thought about facing Katy and his response was......"bring em on, we are ready". He usually doesn't say much and this response told me that he has been preparing for this date for a long while. Jinks is a 'master planner' and the man does not take one step or one word without first having thought it completely through.
I also know that our boys are really, REALLY stoked about this and I know that the staff and players have a really nasty taste in their mouths about how they finished the year at the death star in 2011. They are hungry as Hell!
Two outstanding Ds for sure. Two very good Os. Lots of talent and great staffs on both sides. One......rich and deep in tradition. One.........new on the block trying to build that same tradition. It will be a nasty, slobber knocking, slugfest of a game!

Honest opinion, only you, me, this board, and LILB know to prevent people perceiving me being a Benedict Arnold for the Steele side, OK. Will always root for Steele though.

I have to go with STEELE as their "D" is about as NASTY as it gets! GO STEELE!

Steele the power house of S A and Katy the power house of Houston. Should of played in San Marcos a little closer than Waco, 30,000 would of held the crowd. Lots of good football being played in Waco next weekend. I picked Katy by 7, really dont know either team. Just know they are both good.

My HS team, the Katy Tigers, that I was a football Captain back in the day is playing for a State Championship. East Bernard is also playing for a State Championship and that's where my wife went to HS. Hopefully our house will be celebrating 2 State Championships this weekend. We are both real proud of our home town boys doing well !!! Go Katy !!!

Tepper's Take
Katy vs. Cibolo Steele And here…we…go. The state semifinals to end all state semifinals goes down this week in the 5A Division II bracket, as two unbeaten and largely unchallenged squads tangle in Waco. Look, there’s no denying how dominant Katy has been – they’ve won their four playoff games by a combined score of 251-38 – and how complete they’ve looked, being almost as dangerous with their ballhawking defense as they have been with their Adam Taylor-led offense. But just as impressive has been the manner by which Steele has gone about their business this season, running the ball with a bruising offensive line plowing the road for Justin Stockton and Jordan Stearns, and leaning on what has been a remarkable defense. I can see this going a number of ways, but Steele does seem uniquely suited to win this one. Run the ball, keep it away from Katy, keep their offense in front of you, prevent the big play, and win an ugly game. The problem is, that’s way, way easier said than done.
Tepper’s pick: Katy 38, Cibolo Steele 21
I disagree with Tepper's pick. I believe that Steele's Defense is the "X-Factor" and will get more stops against the Katy Offense. Steele wins a close one and moves on to the 5A D2 State Championship game for the 3rd year in a row.

Adam Taylor carries the ball in his right hand only. Is he a Muslim and save the left for unclean things like the bathroom or stiff arms?

Well, I came the closest to predicting the win margin since I had the lone vote for a 14 point win by my Katy Tigers. They beat a good team with good size, congrats to Steele on a fine season. One more win for Katy to win a 7th State Football Championship. Two injured starting linemen go out on the game clinching drive late in the 4th Quarter and the Tigers still pound it in the end zone, and a freshman intercepts the final Steele pass, so the talent runs deep on this roster. Good to see these Tigers still playing smash mouth football.

One of the things that was impressive about both these teams is the size and speed both teams had. Katy may have had more depth and that's a signiture of how they play and what their program is all about. The Tigers had to keep the pedal to the metal to hold off a quality team that never gave up. This is the kinda HS football I like to watch !!! Coach Joseph, a man of few words, will have these young men focused and ready to play next week. Looking forward to this State Championship Game.
