Will be the third time in as many years for these 2 teams to meet. Lexington blew out Refugio the first meeting, Refugio did the same thing back to Lexington last year.

I think Refugio is better than last year and Lexington maybe not as good. Refugio 49 Lexington 21 I would love to see Refugio schedule La Marque next year in Non-District play. Refugio complains of a weak District schedule. I know that Coach Herring will not even approach La Marque's HC. Refugio would learn all about Team Defense with blazing speed. But that whoopin' they would get from La Marque would better prepare them for the playoffs than Refugio's weak District. I'll drop a line to the La Marque HC and maybe he would be interested.

I think Refugio picked some good teams this year Edna was knocked off last week, Lago Vista 2a big school and Ingleside 3a are still in the playoffs.

Next relignment good chance refugio will move down a class, keep the same nondistrict teams add Cuero and Gonzales. The 1a district are small and will allow 5 nondistrict games. May have to get someone to replace Edna they may not want to play anymore.

Ingleside is a solid 3a school but not really great. Hell, a down Cuero team managed to beat them this year and Cuero got man handled by Bellville in 1st round. LM is no Ingleside or Edna. Refugio beat Banquet 31-0 East Benard just beat them 47-0 I think I smell a ball game coming up next weekend!!!!!!!!

Cuero wont be down long, this change wont happen untill after next year. Next week will be a good game, just hope Refugio is in it. My money says they will. Have a small 8th grade class coming up, it will put Refugio under 200 students easy. Its a small class but maybe the best middle school team I have seen at Refugio, 23 boys on the team and its every boy in the grade playing.

Yes, Refugio will be there next week IMO. No way they lose this week and neither will East Bernard unless they go to sleep. Blanco is not the same Blanco as a few years ago. The Refugio/East Bernard game could very well be the defacto state title game. IMO, there is no other 2a D2 team in the state that can hang with either EB or Refugio. The winner of this semi-final is the overwhelming favorite to bring home the hardware. There is nobody in R1 or R2 that will touch either team and not likely out of R3 either. Two top dogs in D2 IMO by far.

Good article. But, even though Lex is much different team than Rogers.........their head to head matchup earlier in district play says it all. They are very equal as far as overall strength and Refugio will run away from them. Lex might keep it close for a quarter to a quarter and a half if they play lights out.........and then the Bobcats will pour it on. I stand by my original prediction only I think it may be a larger spread then what I posted. Refugio and East Bernard next week for the defacto State Title game. R4 2a D2 is STRONG and it will show in the semis and finals!

Coach Jeff Akins and assistant Coach at Blanco is the Grand Nephew of Coach Gordon Wood. The defensive back Eric Mitchell of Lexington is the grandson of Warren and Carol Ann Hellums Pustejovsky formerly of Sinton, Texas now living in Giddings.
