A real valuable YouTube video is entire game footage. to see what a player does in each situation. To see what a player does both right and wrong. Highlight videos filter out the bad plays. Highlight videos are good to reflect on, but do not show a complete picture. Any exposure is better than no exposure. Getting noticed at the Football Camps is where a lot of exposure happens. That is the unfair advantage that those that are able to attend the football camps have over those that cannot (Money or geographic location). A player's coach can be a great salesman in helping players get noticed. YouTube videos are a good tool, but not the complete package.

They don't have to hire recruiting services for which some are not worth the money and it save a kid who doesn't have the resources to send out DVD's a new tool to reference if he sends out letters or makes calls to schools.
But all the other variables still stand as far as what the coach does with what he sees. He'll want to get an up close look either at a game or an open tryout.

So do you guys feel its pretty much a "get lucky" deal? My kid has a video from 7th grade with about 50,000 views many I'm sure are just from folks like us, but I notice his freshman video is gaining views really quick and I'm hoping that maybe just maybe its someone who knows someone at a university somewhere. I'm about to join a recruiting service that is extremely inexpensive. I reason that its better than nothing and that along with college camps he may get some interest. Shot in the dark maybe, but we owe it to our kids to do our best within financial reason.
