I just realized that if both Seguin and Hays make the playoffs out of 27........Tivy and AH both go D2.
Great work Tom!

Tom you feel pretty sure about Region 4 Div 1 and 2? To be honest, I'm more confident on Regions 1 and 2, since I'm more familiar with DFW (and the El Paso/Panhandle districts aren't tough to figure out.) Region 4 is tough to figure out; the Vandegrift/Rouse game is probably close to a coin flip with big implications, if Vandegrift wins CP is Div. 1. Same goes for 30-4A with T-M/VW (Calallen being the swing team) and 27-4A with Seguin and Champion (Alamo Heights is the swing team.) Plus, you've got the whole E-E mystery situation in 32-4A and 29-4A is a mess.

The other big mystery is tiebreakers. Let's just say it's...difficult to figure out how each district breaks ties between multiple schools.
We know that head-to-head is the first tiebreaker. When you have a three-team tie where each team split with the other two, most districts will go to victory margin in the games, usually with a cap somewhere from 14 to 18.
But some districts will do a straight victory margin ranking and take the highest team (in a three-way tie for fourth.) Others eliminate the third-place team in the margin ranking and then go back to head-to-head for the first two teams.
So, in a hypothetical three-way tie for fourth between Brewer, Lake Dallas, and Azle in 5-4A. (Yeah, I'm not even sure about the tiebreakers in my own team's district.) Let's say Brewer beats Lake Dallas by 10, then Lake Dallas beats Azle by 7. The rankings are: Brewer +3, Azle 0, Lake Dallas -3. Either way Lake Dallas is out. But if you go straight victory margin, Brewer's the highest and gets in. If you go back to head-to-head after eliminating the bottom team, Azle is in.
And, 1-4A eschews all this and goes straight to a coin flip.

Hmmm, apparently Saginaw has clinched. Just saw a tweet from the Denton RC beat writer about the time and place of our playoff game against them.

I am happy for the good folks in Seguin. They've struggled mightily the past few seasons, including a couple years in 4a in 08 & 09. Good to see the Matadors doing well again. Wish they could have pulled out that win against Alamo Heights a few weeks ago.......that would have been huge for them.

With the UIL ruling coming down, Edcouch-Elsa is now back in.
Projected matchups in Div 2 are Edcouch-Elsa vs. Alice and Flour Bluff vs. Mercedes. Roma is out. Div 1 matchups not affected.

Region IV Breakdown 30-4A Port Lavaca Calhoun (5-0, 8-0) (5) CC Calallen (3-1, 6-2) (4) Gregory-Portland (3-2, 7-2) (3) Victoria East (2-2, 3-5) (1) Victoria West (1-3, 4-4) (2) CC Tuloso-Midway (1-3, 3-5) (6) Beeville Jones (0-4, 2-6) (7) Week 9 games: Calallen at Beeville, Tuloso-Midway at West, Calhoun at East I'm honestly not sure, Beeville might be eliminated already, but in any case Calallen should eliminate them this week; that would also put Calallen in. G-P can clinch on its bye week if Calhoun and T-M win; failing that, they can lock it up by beating West in Week 10. T-M, which already beat East, will be in pretty good shape with a win over West. I'm not sure how it would work out in a three-way tie (where West beats T-M, T-M beats Beeville and West loses to G-P) -- it depends on whether 30-4A goes with straight margin (probably T-M unless they get blown out by West) or if they go back to head-to-head (West wins that one.) For East, since they're likely going to lose their last two, they'll basically need West to beat T-M and then lose to G-P, and Beeville to beat T-M in Week 10; that would put them in a tie with West at 2-4. Quoting from the District 30-AAAA Policy Manual for 2012-2013: 2. Tie Breakers for play-off spots and District Championship The UIL tie-breaker system will be utilized to resolve all tied games at the end of regulation play. In the event that two teams are tied, for a play-off spot Head to Head Competition will be used to determine the winner. In the event that mUltiple teams are tied the following District 30-4A Policy will be instituted: Teams tied (identical district win-loss records) will be awarded playoff positions as follows: A. In case of a tie between two teams: 1. "Team A" and "Team B" are tied. "Team "A" beats ''Team B" in their district game, the top playoff position shall be awarded to "Team A". "Team B" will represent the district at the next position. 2. The process listed in 1) is called Head to Head. B. In case of a tie between three teams: 1. The team with the best mutual games record (head to head) will be the highest seed. Teams "A", "B" and "C' are tied and "Team A" beats Teams "B" and "C' in their district games, ''Team A" will be awarded the position. 2. Teams "B" and "C' would then be tied for the next available position: this position is then decided by their mutual game score: (head to head). If "Team B" beats "Team C' in their district game, then "Team B" would be awarded the next position and "Team C" would be awarded the next available position. 3. If this is not the case (no mutual game "head to head" winner), then the team having the highest number of net points, not to exceed 18 points, is awarded the position the three teams are tied for. "Team A" beats "Team B" 14-12: ''Team A" shall be awarded +2 points, "Team B" shall be awarded -2 points. "Team B" beats "Team C' 10-3: "Team B" is awarded +7 points; "Team C' is awarded -7 points. "Team C' beats ''Team A" 10-6: "Team C' is awarded +4 points; "Team A" is awarded -4 points. "Team A's" total points will be -2; "Team B's" total will be +5 points and "Team C's" total is -3 paints. "Team B" will then be awarded the position for which the three teams are tied with their +5 points. After this position has been declared, the remaining two teams will then be tied for the next available position. Teams "A" and "C" would then follow the procedure listed in B(2) (head to head). In this case, "Team C" beats "Team A", 10- 6, then "Team C' would be awarded the next available position and "Team A" would be awarded the next available position. C. In case of a tie between four or more teams: 1. If there is a team with a better mutual games record than the rest of the teams involved in the tie, or beat the other three teams in the tie, then that team is awarded the position that the teams are tied. Teams "A", "B", "C" and "D" are tied for a position: "Team A" is 3-0 in the mutual games. "Team B" is 2-1, "Team C' is 1-2 and 'Team D" is 0-3. Then "Team A" is awarded that position for which the four teams are tied. 2. Teams "B", "C' and "D" would then follow the procedure for three teams tied for the next available position. 3. If there is no clear cut winner (3-0), the teams involved will go to the point system above to determine that position. The three remaining teams will go to the 3-team tied scenario. 4. The same will apply for more than four teams tied: first, use best mutual games record; second, use net points for all mutual games if no outright winner of mutual games is declared. Remember that you resolve one position at a time. When a team is declared a winner of a position, that team is taken out of the mix for the next position to be declared. *NOTE: Net points means each team is awarded plus or minus points according to the difference in the score of their head to head game. Example: "Team A" beats "Team B" 21-7, "Team A" is awarded +14 points and "Team B" is awarded -14 points for that game. Special Provision: At any point in the process, and if net points and mutual games cannot resolve a position, then the teams involved will go to overall district record first to determine a position. If still tied, then the final decision will be made by a coin flip. D. In the case of a game that has been forfeited, the winner of the forfeit will be awarded (+18) points and the loser of the forfeit (-18) points. E. In the case that a game ends with a touchdown, the team that scores the touchdown at the end of regulation or at the end of over time, has the option of going for the extra point or points, or that team may chose to end the game as is. The officials must be notified prior to the game about the district policy on the point system. Refer to page 18 (NCAA Tiebreaker System) of the UIL Football Manual. This was done OCR from Adobe - pardon any typos

Tom, you ready for Aledo vs. Guyer round II,
Western Hills beat South Hills last night to ensure Aledo hits D1 this year.
Aledo will have a tougher time against Cleburne than Guyer will vs. Saginaw, but both should get there.

Yeah, unfortunately I'll probably be out of town for that one since it's Thanksgiving weekend...

Thought I would try to give scenarios for 30-4a. First, Div II is set as TM loses a 3 Way tie with the Vic schools and that's the best they can do. So, PLC will be Div II W and Calallen will be Div II RU. GP is in playoffs no matter what. But, if GP wins, they are Div I Winners. If GP beats VW and VE beats Cal, then VE is Div I RU. If GP loses to VW and VE loses to Calallen, then VW is Div I W and GP is Div I RU. If GP loses to VW by 11 or more and VE beats Calallen, VW wins 3-way and then GP wins head to head with VE. This would mean VW is Div I W and GP is Div I RU. If GP loses to VW by 10 or less and VE beats Calallen, then GP wins 3-way and VE wins head to head with VW. This means GP would be Div I W and VE Div II RU. What if both VE and VW lose, which is very likely? Well, it depends if TM wins! Because this would cause a 3-way tie that would be won by VW who would be the Div I RU. But............... What if all 3 lose(VE, VW and TM)? Then VE has head to head with VW, so VE would get the Div I RU spot.
Hope I didn't confuse anyone cause my head hurts. I'm going to have another Crown and Water and call it a night!

Yes, TM is out. GP in. With a BC win over Seguin next week, PLC would be heavy favorites to take the bottom bracket in Reg IV Div II. Biggest tests would be EE in Rnd 2 and Vandegrift in Rnd 3. If BC makes it, that sends AH to Div I and it would send KT to top half with FB and the other odd numbered district Champions. Would make it tougher for FB as they would probably have CPVR, KT and Calallen in their half of bracket.
