Coldspring cools Cougars in OTSeptember 15, 2012 LA MARQUE — Several Coldspring players were crying after the game Friday night, but it wasn’t for the reasons La Marque Cougars had planned. The Trojans, the ninth-ranked Class 3A team in the state, upset the top-ranked Cougars, 27-21, in an overtime thriller at Etheredge Stadium. It was exactly the letdown that La Marque head coach Mike Jackson feared would happen earlier this week. After big victories to open the season against rivals Ball High and Texas City, the Cougars came out flat against the Trojans, who were pummeled, 36-8, last week against No. 2 Navasota. “We respected this team and knew what they were about,” Jackson said. “But they earned this one. They made the plays to win it and we didn’t.” (more) galvestondailynews.com/story/347862

Wait....!! Its not what it looks like.... I still believe we caused the game to linger on instead of ending it when we had a chance. And we did have multiple opportunities to end it but the endless penalties and suspect play calling played a big part in the loss. I think la marque only passed for 15 yards the whole game... unacceptable. But i tip my hat to coldspring for getting the job done.

Definitely a bizarre result. La Marque must have been half asleep.

Definitely a bizarre result. La Marque must have been half asleep. It just goes to show you anybody, except Lake Travis (4A), can be beat on any night.
