I was watching the local news here in central Texas and they were highlighting the Belton Tigers. They were talking about how they expected them to make a serious run deep in the playoffs this year. I'm not sure what planet they are on but their district was made way more difficult with the addition of Killeen High and Waco Midway. I see the district like this Cove winning it, Killeen and Temple battling for 2nd and 3rd, Waco Midway also in that fight but I have a feeling they may go 4th, Belton 5th and really no better than that realistically, Harker Heights 6th,then Shoemaker and Ellison to finish it out. Belton barely made the playoffs last year in a less competitive district as Bryan was pathetic last year. Having three known powerhouse programs plus a rising temple program I don't see Belton even finishing in the top 4 spots. Also, even if they do make the playoffs I don't see anyone except maybe Waco Midway or Cove making it out of the 1st round due to having to play Dallas schools in the first round as has been the case the last several years.... The district they have to play first round seems to own them much like the coastal bend 4A seems to own the valley 4A district, where the valley gets a win here and there and usually always beats coastal bend #4 team but most other teams are one and done. What do you think kevsmor?

Cove is a powerhouse and Belton without David Ash is just another team, even when Ash was QB Cove made quick work of them.

Ash was hurt his jr year when they played cove and they got beat in one of their only losses that year. Ash's senior year they had no defense at all and made the playoffs because they could outscore temple shoemaker heights and Ellison.... Last year showed how mediocre they are as they barely got 4th despite having an improved defense and squeaked by shoemaker

A poorly trained gopher with arthritis could outscore Shoemaker... Ellison hasn't done much since the 1995-96 era and Cove literally beat the crap out of teams during the regular season, they just struggle against more versatile teams in post season.

Lol well shoemaker finally won last year and Ellison is now the whipping dog of the district. I see shoemaker possibly winning 3 or 4 games (non district included) this year. They will beat Ellison again and possibly harker heights but that game will be close. I agree with you about cove, although I think this year they will be better prepared for playoffs since they are in a stronger district this year in my opinion. Killeen high and Waco midway I think are stronger than a&m consolidated and Bryan were. Add to it a much improved temple team and a descent belton team that only leaves 3 push over teams in their schedule so they should be playoff ready and get deeper than they have recently. I am looking forward to seeing how the teams do this year. I think cove goes 2 or 3 rounds, Waco midway 2 or 3 rounds, Killeen 2 rounds and temple should get to the second round after one and done last year. I think this year they finally get their district passed the 1st round hurdle. Of course it's possible killeen and temple go one and done but cove and midway should get through regardless.

My son goes to Clemens, I live in Cibolo, but I know that Cove is what is and will always be- STRONG. I used to go to their games and fans would travel in basically an armada. The intesity is REEEE-DIC-YEWWWW-LUSSSSS. Copperas Cove might be a town of 30k, but all in all they are a well disciplined team that cracks can after can of WHOOPASS.

Except in 2006 & 2007 when they lost in the State Championship game back to back. Cove and Waco were talkin' big smack in 2006 that they were going to clean house since they dropped down from big bad 5A to little 4A. Alamo Heights took care of Cove in 2006 and Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated took care of Cove in 2007. La Marque dominated Waco in 2006 and Waco did not make it back in 2007.

I agree they travel the whole town and they are crazy. And yes they do bring can after can.... They are tough and my alma mater took it on the chin several years ago back to back thanks to coach Williams putting them on the schedule.... Good luck to Clemens and steele this year.... I lived across from Clemens high back in 07 and loved hearing the games for both schools.... I am so glad to be Texan, cause no matter where you go you can find some good teams around the area to watch on Friday nights....

Oh yeah bro, I remember the crap CC was talking and how AH hadn't seen speed like they were fixin to see! Ha! AH made them look slow! The sad thing is that the 2006 SC team would have done the same thing to the CC team IMO! Waco got blown out by LM in the final that same year!

Clemensbuff... If my we (entire family) was up here where I work, have to admit my son would still be wearing the same team colors only he'd be a Dawg. I'm a fan of Cove through and through.
