this was pretty interesting about hitting pro v 1 and cheap chit.

The only time I've ever hit Pro V 1s are if I find them, and I discovered I can';t hit them as far as my cheap balls.
But heck, I hit a 4 iron, a 9 iron and a garden hoe all the same distance, so using a $5 golf ball aint going to make much diffrence anyway!!!

It's true. Google Srixon and their Q star ball for more explanation. Pro balls do not help the average golfer and in fact cause more problems. The slower swing speeds do not compress the pro ball and worse they allow so much spin that pros use to drop and stop balls on the green it translates into unwanted side spin (slice and hook) for the average duffer. I would say don't go cheap as possible as those balls are junk but mid range for amateurs are best like Titleist NXT tour or Srixon Q Star. They cost less and will work better for most.
