Brandon Griffith just set a new State Record in the squat with a lift of 700 pounds. Another lifter from Kingsville also got 700.
Brandon will also attempt to break the bench record later today.
Brandon lifts in the 198 lb division.

Bench Press = 430 another State Record. Brandon needs 670 pounds in the dead lift to make 1800 and his 3rd State Record for the day.

Congrats to him... As I said in the other state champ message on this board I hope the young man gets his rightful recognition because a state champ title is worth more than just a one line sentence on the last page of a paper, especially since he had records in the process....

I heard a couple of Calallen Wildcat names called out throughout the day. Palacios (not sure if they are considered Coastal Bend) also took the team title in Divison 2.
I agree that Powerlifting gets the shaft on coverage, but I am sure the PL Wave will have a big story on Brandon.
Victoria Advocate has a short blurb on AdvoSports about Brandon and a lifter from Yoakum. It would have been nice to know about the lifter from Yoakum before hand so that I could have followed his progress. But I have not seen anything. There was also a lifter from Victoria West in the same weight Division as Brandon, didn't hear a peep about him either.
I did hear that the West lifter was all over local TV leading up to the meet, but I never watch local TV.

Almost forgot...
Devin Bisby also lifted at 198 and I saw all of his lifts as well. Not sure how he placed, but he represented GP well.
