Chin up, Bluff! That's why you play three. very true moody went three deep with lake travis last year and lost in the third game, lake travis beat beorne champion tonite and smithson valley beat ceder park vista ridge.

Let's take two Hornets and onto the next round. Moody might have put all the marbles in one basket last night. Let's see who can go the distance.

Well, they threw their undefeated pitcher and FB's 1 and 2 haven't thrown a ball yet. Going one down in a best of three puts you against the wall but it still might have been the best strategy opening at Cabaniss. The only way a visiting team gets a strike call is to be at bat evidently then the zone is very liberal.

You need a bat about 2 inches longer than normal to even foul off those low outside called strikes. When you have multiple batters called out looking, you know something is up. But...with that said, it's up to the coaches and players to figure out early where the ump is calling and adjust. They might have to stand on top of the plate to do so though.
What's the old saying...Let Hercules do what he may, the cat will mew....
....well, our day is coming.
I like what you said FBfan...we have our top two ready to go now against a freshman and sophomore. Now if we can only find a right fielder that can judge a ball in the air and attack it...oh yea, and make a good throw to the cut off! We eliminated 2 out of 27 last night! NEXT! When rudimentary plays aren't made, it has a deeper effect than on the scoreboard at that time. You can see the body language of the pitcher and other players when runs are scored that shouldn't be.
Not to take anything away from Moody...they played a great game and Smiley pitched a great game and their fans were great sports about the a$$ whippin their team gave us. I don't know if Smiley's pitch has a lot of movement or what, but we sure didn't seem to get much bat on the ball with alot of our balls put in play. As a fellow poster pointed out...maybe it was nerves on the part of our guys as they looked pretty stiff at the plate. You have to give Moody that intangible as they have been in these types of games much more than we have. The nerves should be out of the way and hopefully the bats will be alive tonight!
Good luck Hornets, go get the next two!

It was nice to see CB25, cap'n swayback, CalWildcatFan, and GATA Cats at our game last night sitting on our side. The majority of the Carroll, Calallen, and King varsity baseball team was there as well.
278...catfromwayback was sitting next to me...I know you met him, but I don't think I told you what his alias was...

Good luck Hornets, go get the next two! I would be more concerned about the OF if that had been a trend but that hasn't been the case. They have been solid all year until last night. Maybe having Brandon on the mound instead of his normal CF had a lot to do with it. He is the "Captain" out there. His backup that started in CF dropped the first one and set the tone. Speaking of setting the tone. I think the pitching decision kind of put a WTH in the whole teams mind and you could see it in the body language before the game ever started.

BASEBALL IS LIFE JD well at least to me , it's always fun to be a ball game and see the young men that played for me and against me and to see them mature into young men and learn baseball and RESPECT the game. Great job to all the young men lose or win you will aways be winners in my score book.
