.... Do you think RGC will play small ball with Calallen's defense ?I think they're going to have to score a LOT of runs.

RIO GRANDE CITY 6, SAN ANTONIO BURBANK 5, 9 INNINGS: At Laredo, Leo Zamarippa hit a line drive over t he second baseman, scoring Phillip Guzman in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift Rio Grande City to a 6-5 victory over San Antonio Burbank in Game 2 of their best of three Class 5A area playoff series on Saturday afternoon at Kruger Field. The win gave the Rattlers sweep and earned them their first regional quarterfinal appearance since 2000. Rio Grande City (25-8), which defeated Burbank 3-0, in eight innings on Friday, will play Corpus Christi Calallen later this week at a day and site that will be determined on Monday. The Rattlers’ ace, Victor Fuentes, was credited with a complete-game victory. Fuentes allowed nine hits and struck out four. “What helped us out was the small-ball thing,” Rio Grande City coach Ricardo Lopez said. “We got a lot of bunts with runners on base.” The Rattlers trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh before Tomas Mares came up with a run-scoring single that tied the game and sent the game into extra innings. Fuentes also went 1 for 2 with a triple and an RBI. Zamarippa finished 2 for 5 with two RBIs Do you think RGC will play small ball with Calallen's defense ?Very few pitchers have been able to hold Cals runs down this year. Small ball not likely to work too well against them.

I have seen how lightning fast our third baseman is with getting rid of the ball. I'm sure they will try small ball, but I don't think they will be consistently successful enough at it to make a game plan around it.

roadrunner staduim is that at the utpa university, which exit do you take Take the "Monte Cristo" exit, right on Monte Cristo up to "Sugar", take a left on Sugar and take a left. You will go a couple of miles and the stadium will be on your left hand side. You can't miss it!

roadrunner staduim is that at the utpa university, which exit do you take I don't think it's on the UTPA campus? They tore down Jody Ramsey when Roadrunner stadium was built and now UTPA plays there games there. Jody Ramsey was actually a nice field. Alot of history was made there when UTPA had a strong baseball program.

Calallen Wildcats vs. Rio Grande City Rattlers Friday, May 20, 7:30 p.m. at La Joya 201 East Expressway 83 78560 Next to the football stadium They just did the Cats a big favor by switching to the field in La Joya. Roadrunner field is not a hitters ball park, the outfield fences are 16' tall and the field was built below ground level. The ball will definetly come off the bat much better at La Joya Field. Much nicer venue also!
