Why not play in Alice? neutral field that both team know... I don't see Cal agreeing on Cab, pretty much a home field for Moody... Sinton would work but don't think Moody would agree to that.. Alice makes sense there would be lots of alice fans there. wonder if that would be a problem with seating. I'm sure you'd be there with your bag of rocks.

Let's just hope Moody doesn't want a 1-gamer. If Corky wins the flip for a 1-gamer, it should be on the condition the game is played at Calallen. Corky would never agree to a one gamer, and neither would Chapman... plan on a series. It will be three. I just can't see us cede all three potential games to Cabiness. We can't forget Carrol is still in the picture and might need their facility as well.

the soccer team torn fair grounds field up pretty bad from what i hear and prob. dont have the money to fix it ...such a shame and a waste of a field cause its really nice there should be more baseball games there to show case it ...i know all high school teams would love to play there i wish when i was in school instead of playing against calallen and cabniess field back then that was the best lol Talk after the game was that fair grounds would be an option if the field can be fixed by next weekend.

Home and Home. Fairgrounds sucks. Hate for the bad field conditions to possibly determine the outcome. One bad hop can completely change a game or you could lose an outfielder to an ankle injury.

Calallen field would be to small for the expected crowd, I sure hope the school district upgrades the bleachers and field in general. With the tradition coach Chapman has established over the last two decades it's a shame the district has done so little with the field. If not for the booster club many of the current upgrades would have never happened.

[/quot Yes, with the tradition that has been put in place at Calallen, one would think that the school would put a little more into the facelift of the field. After playing on some other high schools very nice facilities over the years the school board should wake up and smell the roses and the money that would come in to the coffer from other playoff games being played their. They need to talk to Sinton booster club president. They have a beautiful facility.

If not for the booster club many of the current upgrades would have never happened. Hopefully the visit to Sinton on Thursday evening started a conversation about it. Is the indoor practice/pool facility going to be built? Last time I heard, the bids came in quite a bit over budget. If that project is not going to be done or put on the backburner until another source of revenue can be found (like another bond issue or something), why not redirect some of that money to do something in a grand scale for the ballpark? And I thought the bond issue had some money directed towards the baseball field orginally too? I talked to a gentlemen from Sinton at the game the other night and they said they did the same thing with bond money to help improve their facilty for both baseball and softball. Some of the money they used was orginally allocated for a new field house, but they decided to basically redo both the softball and baseball facilites. And it paid off with them hosting numerous playoff games this year inclduing some big time programs such as ours and a few others. Like our football stadium became an assest for football playoffs, so could our baseball/softball complex with the easy access to the Highway, etc.

Couple of things:
Sinton got a ton of money from the wind farms - that is what was used for the athletic facility upgrades.
Fairgrounds - more to think about then just the field - cleaning and preparing the restrooms, cleaning and preparing the concession stands, stocking the concession stands, does the scoreboard work, does the sound work, what condition are the seats in, etc, etc,..that place hasnt been used in over a year.
There was money in the Calallen bond issue for the baseball field - I will have to ask about that - but per Title IX any upgrades to baseball have to be done to softball - after all the hard work the baseball BC put into the field this season, the district is going to have to spend money on softball now - there is case law that controls this.
Pool is dead; practice facility is still alive and there is an announcment that has been pending for 2 months for something else - need to find out the status on that

TitleIX only come into play if the school district funds the upgrades, I don't believe it applies if the booster club pays for the upgrades. Again, over the last ten years almost all the upgrades have been done by the BC. The only thing I can recall being done by the district was the press box and hand rails only because they became safety issues. Truly sad..

Will both schools academic year be ended by next weekend? If so, I think the Texas League may agree to letting them use Whataburger, provided the games end early enough. If both Cal and Moody are not in class, then something like an 11 AM start could be done. Games would be over by 2:00, leaving plenty of time for the Hooks.

They could have the games even later than 11:00 and be done with enough time to get the Hooks operational.
