Umpiring is tough, but guys working a state semi final should be among the best in the state, period. Once you blow a call, you start 2nd guessing yourself, or try to give a bad call back, and it will go bad quickly. My biggest ever boo boo in a LL game was being so locked into my strike zone that I failed to notice the batter swing at a pitch that was not in my pre-determined zone. called it a ball. I decided then that the kids deserved a lot better than me and gave up my umpire career. I am pretty good at calling balls and strikes from the stands though

I called this girl out sliding in to home plate...the girls father, who was also the manager came running out of the dugout with a baseball bat and chased me around the field. LOL Some GP posters would know and laugh if I told you who he was. Funny story though.

Great game last night and congrats Cal on the win. I thought Chap blew it last night when he did not bunt the winning run over in the bottom of the ninth and they hit into a double play to end the inning. I have no clue why he would not bunt in that text book situation. Game tonight will be on www.foxsportssouthwest.comalso 5A semis today at noon and three and championship Sat at noon.

Nothing like playing for and winning the State Championship..! Maybe when I get married or have kids I will have a feeling that can match it! LOL Especially when your team does it with 60K+ in the stands and on FSW on Cowboys Field! Funny, I've got to agree with you that the feeling that day was very much like when I married my bride and my two children were born. I never thought of it that way but it was truly much the same. Wierd for sure and maybe a sign of just how much some of us love our teams............GOOD & BAD for sure! LOL
