Paper reported Mathisen is going today. Sat down for breakfast and talked with some M. Poteet and Coronado fans (team playing Carroll) and they were talking about how good that game was last night. Yes, it was a great game! Poteet's pitcher was impressive with over 150 pitches in 10 innings. He really shut down Calallen's offense after they beat him up a bit in the first 5 innings (10 hits). He only allowed 3 more through the next 5. Great job by both teams!

Sounds like it was a great game. Congrats to the calallen players and coaches. the fall down at 1st was a brilliant play. Can't believe the catcher went for it with a runner on 3rd. I sure feel for him, I bet he feels pretty bad this morning.

Its how a semifinal game should be - while a blowout on our part would have been easier on the nerves, I like close games and the outcome was perfect. Should do well today.....I hope

Catcher throws ball away, cal runner on 3rd scores for W! Not the cleanest way to win, but I'll take it! Especially considering the breaks that didn't go Calallen's way (i.e. no strike zone in top 4th). Dang, that game wore me out. lol Home plate ump had a moving strike zone which hurt Mando....second base ump was just horrible....but you still have to play to win

He (the ump, not the pitcher) couldn't even find a strike zone in the 4th. Glad we got out of there with a win under those circumstances. I still love how Vondracek called the ump out in his article.

I feel the same way I use to call back in the day and I don't like to call out blues, I will let them know they might be off a little, ride them a little in some fun but never degrade them. But your right last night blue did show some favor toward Mesquite. I mean if you missing (cause everyone has bad games even blues) miss both ways. First of all, congrats to the pussy cats on the W. Heck of a way to gut out a tough win at a time it sounds like the calls were not quite going Cal's way! So the strike zone was not quite the same for both sides last night? Are the umpire and his crew not from a different region outside of where both teams competing are from like they do in FB???

Very impressive sr year for this kid indeed. Tough though to get all the way to the semis and not go to the dance.

I think it just hurt Calallen the most. I heard they are a DFW area crew.

Nothing like playing for and winning the State Championship..! Maybe when I get married or have kids I will have a feeling that can match it! LOL
Looking forward to grilling out and listening to the game tonight!

8-1/2 hours 'til gametime. I think that Calallen has more firepower in pitching and batting than WF Rider. Last night's game shows that Calallen can overcome adversity and still win the big games. 31-4A rules!
